TV-Series
Description
Hajime Takahashi is a supporting character in the series, introduced as the grandfather of Satoshi Takahashi and the patriarch of the Takahashi family. He is a retired police officer who lives in Higashi Town, and his past career provides him with a wealth of interesting stories from his time on the force. He is married to Setsu Takahashi, and their grandson, Satoshi, is a college student at a medical university.

Hajime and his wife experience the same miraculous event as the series' main protagonists; after eating a mysterious golden apple from a tree, they regain their youthful bodies. This transformation brings them back to a younger state, and notably, they regain their original hair colors, unlike the Saito grandparents whose hair remains white. This physical difference may suggest that the Takahashi couple is of a slightly younger generation.

Personality-wise, Hajime is characterized by a competitive and spirited nature, which becomes especially apparent when he and his wife meet Shouzou and Ine Saitou. This meeting sparks a lighthearted rivalry between the two couples. Hajime engages in physical competitions with Shouzou, such as a tug-of-war, to determine which of the two men is superior, while his wife similarly bickers with Ine over whose husband is better. Despite this friendly conflict, their interactions serve as a point of connection, particularly for their grandchildren. The shared unusual predicament of having young grandparents gives Satoshi and Shiori Saitou a common topic to bond over, facilitating their developing relationship.

Hajime’s role in the story is primarily to act as a counterpart to the main grandparents, illustrating that the phenomenon of the golden apples is not unique to the Saitou family. His arrival adds a new dynamic to the narrative by introducing another family navigating the same strange and wonderful circumstances. Through his past as a policeman and his current playful rivalry, he adds further depth to the series' exploration of aging, second chances, and family connections.
