Description
Hakushurin is one of the central figures in her story, known as the Queen Mother of the West and the ruler of the western region of Kunlun. As one of the three great celestial sovereigns, she holds a position of immense authority over the realm of immortals. Her past, however, began far from such power. Hakushurin was originally an orphan who was raised at the Anxi Home, a care facility. Her life took a dramatic turn following the death of the previous Queen Mother of the West; due to a rare and specific alignment of the stars, Hakushurin was chosen as the successor and was taken to live in the Yaochi Palace, the Celestial Palace of the Jade Pond.

Hakushurin possesses a personality marked by energy and a strong will. From a young age, she was active and showed a keen interest in martial arts. She had a noted aversion to elaborate or "frilly" clothing, strongly preferring practical attire and at one time keeping her hair short. This preference for masculine clothing during her childhood led to several misunderstandings, most notably with her close friend Ichiyō, who initially mistook her for a boy.

Her motivation is largely tied to her complex personal history and her sense of duty. As the Queen Mother of the West, she carries the heavy responsibility of helping to stabilize the immortal world. However, her personal story is defined by her relationship with Ichiyō. The two became close friends as children after meeting in the courtyard of Yaochi Palace. Yet, a tragic rift formed between them when the truth of Hakushurin's identity as the Queen Mother was revealed. Ichiyō, who was dealing with his own painful separation from a loved one, felt betrayed and spent the next four years avoiding her, creating a lasting tension that remains a core part of her present.

Visually, Hakushurin appears youthful, a trait explained by her ascent to immortality. She became a full celestial being at the age of sixteen, at which point her physical aging stopped completely. Her key relationships circle back to her childhood, including a bond with a person named San'u from her time at the Anxi Home.

Throughout her development, Hakushurin has maintained her decisive and charismatic nature. Despite holding the formal title of Queen Mother, her character retains echoes of the active, martial girl she once was, preferring simple strength over ostentatious displays of femininity. Her notable abilities stem directly from her status as a celestial sovereign, which grants her immense power and authority as one of the primary rulers of the immortal realm, a role she was destined for by the stars themselves.
