Description
Kazuki Kedōin begins his professional life as a highly successful manager and producer at God Promotion, a leading talent agency often abbreviated as Gopro. His career in the entertainment industry is derailed by a major incident involving a young actor named Himuro, for which Kazuki is unjustly blamed and forced to leave the business, his life temporarily falling apart. After this fall from grace, he reinvents himself, using the keen ability to evaluate people that he cultivated as a manager to establish his own venture capital firm, Kedōin Venture Capital.
Kazuki presents a distinctive and extravagant appearance, often seen wearing a cowboy hat and sunglasses. A notable detail of his attire is his gentleman’s shoes, the soles of which are adorned with symbols of clovers and hearts. This design is intentional, as Kazuki deliberately steps on these symbols to represent his personal philosophy born from past betrayal: he no longer believes in luck or love. His personality matches his bold look; he has a sharp tongue, is frequently blunt and direct, and uses a characteristic phrase that has become a verbal trademark. Despite his rough and sometimes suspicious demeanor, he possesses a caring and protective nature, showing genuine concern for those he decides to support.
Kazuki is driven by a resilient spirit and a desire to succeed after being wronged. He is a savvy and experienced businessman with a strong instinct for recognizing potential in people, a skill he relies on heavily. His major motivation shifts when he encounters the protagonists, whose audacious plans rekindle his ambitions and eventually lead him back to the entertainment industry he left behind. He is also physically capable and has been shown to be as strong in a fight as his more boisterous peers.
In the story, Kazuki first becomes involved after witnessing the protagonists' victory in the Security Championship. Impressed by their potential, he steps in as their first major financial backer, offering a seed investment of thirty million yen in exchange for a fifteen percent equity stake in their fledgling venture. He plays the critical role of a mentor and an initial investor, providing not only capital but also assessment and assistance as they navigate their early business challenges, even as he is frequently thrown off by their unpredictable methods.
Kazuki has a complex, long-standing rivalry with Kirika Kokuryū, stemming from their shared history at God Promotion. His relationship with the two protagonists develops into an intensive, mentor-like dynamic, with him evaluating their progress and helping them in crucial situations. His path also involves a significant connection to his troubled past through the actor Himuro, whose actions led to Kazuki’s initial downfall.
Kazuki undergoes substantial development, moving from a disillusioned investor to a man who reclaims his former legacy. After being drawn into a strategic scheme orchestrated by the protagonists, he makes a triumphant return to God Promotion. He ultimately takes on the role of the agency's third president, re-entering the world of entertainment with the goal of building a powerful media empire to rival the industry giant Dragon Bank. This arc transforms him from a man who stepped on symbols of love and luck into a leader ready to seize his own fortune.
Kazuki possesses a notable set of abilities, foremost being his exceptional "eye for people" which allows him to quickly identify talent and potential in others. He combines this with extensive experience in both the entertainment and investment industries, making him a shrewd negotiator and a strategic thinker skilled at resolving conflicts.
