Description
Chitose Shirakawa is a high school student who serves as a supporting character in the story. She is easily recognized by her auburn hair and red eyes, and she celebrates her birthday on May 5. Chitose is the girlfriend of Itsuki Akazawa, who affectionately calls her Chii. She has a natural talent for sports and was formerly the ace of the track and field club during middle school. However, her time on the team ended badly due to internal conflicts; her superior performance drew the jealousy of an upperclassman who was also interested in Itsuki, leading to harassment that caused her to quit. As a result, she chose not to join any sports club upon entering high school.

Chitose’s personality is defined by an active, light-hearted, and boisterous energy. She is extremely honest in both her words and actions, which makes her popular and allows her to befriend classmates easily. This outgoing and sometimes impulsive nature can be overwhelming for more reserved individuals, and Amane Fujimiya often finds her exuberance bothersome. She has a playful and mischievous side, which is evident when she adds prank elements to her cooking, such as turning Valentine's Day chocolates into a form of roulette with oddly-flavored surprises. Despite her sometimes chaotic behavior, she is deeply devoted to Itsuki, frequently showing a clingy and affectionate side that marks them as a公认 silly couple. She is also noted to have a large appetite and a strong fondness for cute things.

Chitose plays a crucial role in the emotional development of the female lead, Mahiru Shiina. Through persistent and genuine interactions, she helps Mahiru lower her emotional barriers, encouraging her to embrace her true self, including her fondness for cute things and her more energetic side. Chitose becomes Mahiru's first true best friend and a significant source of support, with Mahiru often seeking her advice on matters of the heart. Her perceptiveness about others' feelings makes her a key figure in strengthening the bonds within the main group of friends. Alongside Itsuki, she works to actively encourage the relationship between Mahiru and Amane, serving as a major catalyst for their progression from a secret arrangement to an official couple. Her actions are generally well-intentioned, though she sometimes exhibits light jealousy, particularly regarding Mahiru and Amane's evolving relationship, which she good-naturedly teases Amane about.

Over the course of the story, Chitose demonstrates growing emotional maturity in navigating her relationship with Itsuki and her friendships. A notable example of her development is her strategic intervention during the school sports festival, where she used her position as a committee member to create an opportunity for Mahiru to publicly declare Amane as her important person, an event that successfully pushed the pair toward officially dating. Her skills include a natural aptitude for sports and competent cooking abilities, though the latter is often used for her playful pranks. The meaning behind her name combines the characters for thousand and year-end, signifying thousand years or a millennium, while her surname combines the characters for white and river.
