Description
Makina Umezawa is a first-year student at Saint Solarina Girls' Academy and a supporting character who later becomes one of the heroines in the story. She entered high school on an athletics scholarship due to her abilities in track and field, having been a promising long-distance runner during her middle school years. In middle school, she was a member of the track and field club where Naoto Watari was her senior, and she looked up to him with admiration. Now in high school, she remains conscious of that admiration and often reflects on their shared past.

Makina is initially presented as carefree and unapologetically bold in her demeanor. However, since entering high school, she has been slacking off in club activities and distancing herself from her teammates, suggesting an internal struggle or loss of motivation. Her reunion with Naoto Watari gradually prompts her to confront the contradictions within herself, making her one of the more emotionally and mentally developed characters over the course of the narrative. Her motivations are tied to her unresolved feelings for Naoto and her own sense of inadequacy. At one point, she tries to distance herself from him, saying that it is painful to try even when you know you will fail, but she encounters him waiting in front of her dormitory, forcing her to face her emotions directly.

Her role in the story expands as her appearances increase, and her romantic interest in Naoto becomes more apparent. She functions as a key figure in the broader romantic dynamics, offering a contrast to the other characters through her athletic background and her struggle between ambition and self-doubt. Her development involves moving from avoidance to confrontation with her feelings and her past, and she undergoes significant emotional growth as she learns to reconcile her admiration for Naoto with her own sense of identity. Her notable abilities lie in track and field, particularly long-distance running, which she pursued seriously in middle school but has since neglected.
