Description
Marba, also known as the Great Witch Marba, is a powerful sorceress from the Demon Realm who appears in the anime Dragon Ball Daima. She is a resident of the First Demon World and has lived there for millions of years, spending much of that time in relative quiet. Her background is defined by her role as the original creator of Majin Buu, a feat she accomplished long ago at the request of the wizard Bibidi, who lacked the magical ability to do so himself. Despite this monumental achievement, Marba does not view the creation of Majin Buu with pride; she considers it a failed experiment because Buu turned out far more evil and uncontrollable than she ever intended.
In terms of personality, Marba is a pragmatic and somewhat world-weary witch. She is not boastful about her magical prowess and seems to approach her work with a detached, professional attitude. She is willing to cooperate with others for practical gain, as seen when she agrees to work for Doctor Arinsu. Her motivations are largely self-serving: she accepts Arinsu's commission to create new Majin-type beings in exchange for a position of privilege within Arinsu's planned regime, suggesting she values security and status.
Marba's role in the story of Dragon Ball Daima is that of a key supporting character who provides the means for Doctor Arinsu to advance her schemes. She appears in episode eight, where Arinsu seeks her out to craft new artificial beings using a fragment of the original Majin Buu and Saibaiman seeds. Marba creates two such beings: Majin Koo and later Majin Doo, each designed to challenge the Tamagami guardians and obtain the Demon Realm Dragon Balls. She also previously sold Saibaiman seeds to outsiders, indicating a history of trading in dangerous magical materials.
Her key relationships include Doctor Arinsu, her current employer and collaborator; the two creations, Majin Koo and Majin Doo, whom she brings to life; and the long‑ago client Bibidi, for whom she originally made Majin Buu. There is no significant personal development for Marba within the series; she remains a relatively static figure who fulfills her contractual obligation and does not grow emotionally or change her worldview.
Notable abilities include her mastery of powerful witchcraft, which allows her to create living beings from organic components such as Saibaiman seeds and residual fragments of existing creatures. She can also manipulate and combine these materials to produce artificial life‑forms with unique traits, such as Majin Koo's singing ability and Majin Doo's strength. Beyond creation magic, she possesses general sorcerous knowledge typical of a high‑ranking witch from the Demon Realm.
