Description
Chloe Rollo is a waitress at the Hostess of Fertility pub in Orario and a former assassin who was once known by the name Rollo. She is a member of the Njord Familia. As a member of the Cat People race, Chloe has black hair, green eyes, and matching black cat ears and a tail. She stands 158 centimeters tall.
Chloe was born to parents who were members of a Familia that operated as a criminal organization. From the moment of her birth, she was taught various methods of assassination and was praised for correctly utilizing them. Her feelings toward her Familia soured after the assassin she regarded as an older sister, who she later learned was her biological mother, died while protecting her. Her goddess agreed to let her leave, but only after she completed several difficult tasks, including the assassination of a Level 3 knight of the Empire using only a simple knife. She succeeded in these missions, leveling up in the process.
After leaving her original Familia, Chloe traveled for a time before arriving in the labyrinth city of Orario approximately nine years before the main events of the story. Her first mission in Orario, which was to assassinate the adventurer Shakti Varma, ended in failure, and she barely escaped with her life. Following this, she began refusing jobs to kill first-class adventurers. Eventually, after failing to kill a wanted Ryuu Lion, she instead joined the Hostess of Fertility, leaving her life as an assassin behind.
Chloe is known for her crafty and sly personality, and she often gambles, a habit that her fellow employees tend to disapprove of. Despite her teasing and mischievous nature, she is deeply loyal to her coworkers at the pub, once displaying open hostility toward the god Hermes for mentioning Ryuu's painful past. Even during her time as an assassin, she adhered to a strict personal code of conduct, only killing people she considered to be scum or those who were resolved to die. She also developed a fondness for young boys, whom she labels as the treasure of the world, an attitude that first emerged when she acted as a chivalrous thief for orphans during her travels. Because of this, she refused any contract that would require her to assassinate a child.
Chloe takes pride in her nickname, the Black Cat, and does not tolerate impersonators. She has a flirtatious and occasionally sadistic side, but also a complex regarding her flat chest. Despite her dark past, she considers herself a terrible person unworthy of honest work, believing she would only stain the good efforts of others with the blood on her hands.
As a former elite assassin, Chloe Rollo is a Level 4 adventurer with formidable combat abilities. Her physical prowess, speed, agility, and reflexes are dramatically superior to those of a normal person, and her speed has surprised even other high-level adventurers like Ryuu Lion. Her durability is also notable, as she has withstood powerful blows from both Anya and Ryuu. Her fighting style specializes in silent assassinations and sneak attacks, avoiding direct confrontations in favor of using distractions and surprise attacks to target an opponent's weak points. Her skill as an assassin was such that she had an almost one hundred percent success rate.
Chloe possesses the magic spell called Feles Cruz or Pheles Cruz, which allows her to create two mirages of herself that move according to her will. While these mirages are unable to attack or defend, they are highly effective for confusing opponents. Her development abilities include Abnormal Resistance, Mixing which she primarily uses to create items like sleeping incense for her assassinations, and Escape which increases her speed when retreating. Her signature weapon is a knife named Violetta, which she would typically coat with deadly poisons derived from monsters in the lower and deep floors of the Dungeon. As a Cat Person, she also has greatly enhanced senses, including hearing and smell, which have sharpened further with each advancement in her level.
