She has a commanding, whip-cracking presence, speaks in a curt and dramatic fashion, and habitually smacks a baton or whip while talking. She does not hesitate to use that whip to discipline misbehaving students, and she will even flog members of the school staff. Beneath that performance, she is a responsible, sensible, and genuinely wholesome person who cares deeply for the students under her care. She holds strict standards for conduct at school, has zero tolerance for bullying, regards those who bully others as cowards, and is willing to physically intervene to correct such behavior. She also stands firmly against harassment in general and encourages victims to speak up and rely on the support of others. Her role in the story is that of a supporting adult presence in the students' daily school life, watching over the main characters and responding to the trouble that follows them. Her most consistent relationships are with the student body, whom she listens to and protects, and with the faculty, whom she treats with the same blunt disciplinary energy she applies to students.
