TV-Series
Description
Elvira is a prominent archnoble and the first wife of Karstedt, who serves as a key figure in the Ehrenfest duchy. She is the biological mother of three sons, Eckhart, Lamprecht, and Cornelius, and becomes the adoptive mother of Rozemyne, the series protagonist, when she is taken into the family. Elvira has dark green hair gathered in complex bundles and wears elaborate, colorful embroidered clothing, appearing to be in her mid-thirties.

Elvira is characterized as highly intelligent, fashionable, and exceptionally socially adept. She is a pragmatic and strategic thinker who works methodically to secure advantages for herself and her family while fulfilling her societal obligations as an archnoble. Though she presents a dignified and graceful exterior, she is also deeply passionate, particularly about her hobbies. Rozemyne describes her as a role model who unrelentingly pursues her personal interests while maintaining her public responsibilities. Elvira is also warm-hearted and protective, showing genuine maternal affection for Rozemyne despite the lack of blood relation, and extends her support to other nobles who face persecution.

Her motivations stem from a difficult personal history. As the daughter of Veronica’s half-sister, Elvira faced political persecution and harassment during Veronica's reign of power in Ehrenfest. Her marriage to Karstedt was partially arranged to offer her protection from this abuse. Rather than simply endure this treatment, she worked in secret to gather other noblewomen who had also suffered under Veronica, eventually forming a counter-faction. This faction later became known as the Florencia faction after Sylvester's first wife joined its ranks, though Elvira remained its de facto leader. Her primary motivation is protecting those she cares about from political harm, which includes not only her family but also figures like Ferdinand and Florencia. She also has a strong sense of duty as a noble, working to stabilize her household and support the wider duchy.

In the story, Elvira plays several crucial roles. Most significantly, she takes responsibility for introducing Rozemyne to noble society, teaching her the manners, dress, and customs required of an archnoble's daughter. At Ferdinand's personal request, she agrees to officially baptize the commoner-born Rozemyne as her own daughter, a secret she faithfully keeps while providing the girl with unwavering support. Politically, Elvira is a powerful faction leader and manages a wide network of informants and allies, allowing her to gather sensitive information and influence events from behind the scenes. She also takes on leadership of the printing industry in Ehrenfest, using her position as a scholar to manage the workshops and expand production into her home province of Haldenzel.

Elvira’s key relationships are complex. Her marriage to Karstedt has been strained for years, a consequence of a bitter familial conflict involving his second and third wives, Trudeliede and Rozemary. Karstedt's biased handling of the situation, which ended with Rozemary's death, created a lasting rift between them, though their relationship shows signs of rekindling later in the story. Despite this, she works with Karstedt for the sake of the family's stability. Her relationship with Rozemyne is notably affectionate, treating her adopted daughter with the same care and devotion as her biological sons. Elvira is also a fervent admirer and loyal supporter of Ferdinand, trusting him implicitly and enthusiastically supporting any project that features him, including the secret sale of his illustrations. This adoration is shared among a group of noblewomen in her faction, creating a subtle but dedicated fan culture around the reluctant priest.

Elvira’s development is subtle but present. Initially introduced as a somewhat intimidating figure of high society, she quickly reveals her depth and kindness. Her primary arc involves her growing acceptance of and affection for Rozemyne, moving from fulfilling a request to becoming a truly devoted mother figure. Her strained relationship with Karstedt also sees gradual improvement over time as they learn to communicate and support one another. She demonstrates consistent growth as a political leader, expanding her influence and taking on greater responsibilities within the duchy, such as managing the printing industry and undertaking major projects like beautifying the lower city.

Elvira possesses several notable abilities. She is a talented political strategist with a gift for maneuvering through the complex hierarchies of noble society. Her training as a scholar is evident in her methodical approach to information gathering and problem-solving. Outside of politics, she is an accomplished writer of romance novels, which are very popular among Ehrenfest's noblewomen, and she eagerly draws inspiration from the lives of those around her. This passion for stories complements her leadership of the printing industry, where she oversees production and even orchestrates the creation of limited-edition illustrated books for her circle of friends, often featuring a reluctant Ferdinand as the subject.
