Description
Catherine Sabathra is a secondary character in the narrative, serving as a member of the Neo Britannian Empire`s elite knightly order known as the Einbergs, where she holds the title of Weiss Queen. She is a young woman with a slim but buxom build, characterized by her striking bright pink hair tied into twin tails and her vivid blue eyes. Her skin is notably dark, and her distinctive appearance is further accentuated by her choice of attire. Outside of combat, she wears a custom uniform that sets her apart from other Einbergs; it follows a predominantly white and pink color scheme but is significantly more revealing, leaving her arms, midriff, and upper legs exposed, contrasted with a short black skirt. The pink color scheme extends to her personal possessions, including her Knightmare Frame, which she is known to decorate.

Catherine`s personality is a complex mix of overt femininity and profound cruelty. On the surface, she presents a playful, teasing, and somewhat lazy demeanor, often appearing unmotivated or bored with her duties. She embraces a stereotypically feminine aesthetic and behaves in a flirtatious manner, even taking selfies from within the cockpit of her Knightmare Frame. This lighthearted exterior, however, masks a ruthless and unforgiving nature. Her entire worldview is built upon the singular concept of raw power. She holds an intense admiration and respect for strength, reserving her loyalty and affection exclusively for those she deems truly powerful. Conversely, she harbors a deep and open disdain for what she perceives as weakness, showing no hesitation in verbally or physically dominating those she considers inferior.

This philosophy was born from a childhood trauma. Catherine originally came from a humble family that ran a bakery. When she was a child, she was the victim of an attempted abduction during which her parents were killed while trying to protect her. At that critical moment, Norland von Lunebelg appeared and effortlessly killed her attacker, saving her life. This event left an indelible mark on her, forging an obsession with strength and a deep-seated belief that only the powerful have the right to survive. Her rescuer became the object of her lifelong devotion, and she views Norland as the ultimate embodiment of the strength she craves. She eventually rose through the ranks to become a knight, dedicating herself entirely to the pursuit of power.

Within the story, Catherine is first seen in a major operation at the Abashiri Prison Complex. She is dispatched to secure and retrieve Sakuya Sumeragi, who is being held there under the identity of a prisoner. She successfully recaptures Sakuya during a rescue attempt by the protagonist, Rozé, and delivers her to the Neo Britannian capital. Following this event, Sakuya is placed on the throne as a puppet empress, and Catherine is reluctantly assigned as her personal bodyguard. Catherine initially despises this assignment, openly insulting Sakuya to her face for being weak, pathetic, and unworthy of her protection. She finds Sakuya`s demeanor so infuriating that she even requests another officer to temporarily take over her post.

A key part of her development involves her evolving relationship with Sakuya. Although she begins by looking down on the empress due to her perceived helplessness and Japanese heritage, she is forced to observe Sakuyas actions over time. As Sakuya begins to demonstrate inner resolve, political cunning, and a different kind of quiet strength, Catherines perspective slowly shifts. She eventually comes to recognize and respect this newfound strength in the woman she was assigned to guard. This change culminates in a moment of defiance when a crisis instigated by the character Loki endangers the empress. Catherine uses her authority as the "queen" to actively help Sakuya escape, having grown to believe in her charge`s worth.

Her personal journey reaches its climax in a confrontation with her lifelong idol, Norland. Seeking to confirm that he still possesses the absolute strength she has always revered, Catherine challenges him to a duel. Norland, however, refuses to engage her on her terms. Using a special device, he forcibly shuts down her Knightmare Frame, rendering her helpless. By refusing to fight and proving his power was not what she believed it to be, he shatters her lifelong philosophy. He then pushes her from the high-altitude capital, leaving her for dead. Catherine survives the fall and, following Norland`s eventual death, is shown to have found her way to an orphanage run by her friend Narah Vaughn, seeking a new purpose and reflecting on the true meaning of strength.

In terms of abilities, Catherine is an exceptionally gifted Knightmare Frame pilot. She pilots a distinctive pink unit named the Queen Curaca (or Quinn克拉卡). Her fighting style is notable for its grace and speed, described as being as fluid and precise as a dancer`s movements. She is able to control her machine with such finesse that it feels like an extension of her own body. She specializes in close-quarters combat and is highly effective in hand-to-hand fighting using her Knightmare Frame. Her preferred weapons are two four-barreled guns that also feature blades mounted below the barrel, allowing her to engage enemies with a mix of rapid gunfire and elegant slashing attacks while maintaining a fighting distance. Her key relationships include her idolization of Norland von Lunebelg, her antagonistic yet slowly respectful dynamic with Sakuya Sumeragi, and her friendly camaraderie with her fellow Einbergs, whom she often addresses by affectionate nicknames.
