Description
Quabala Quabala, whose name is sometimes romanized as Quabara or Kwabara, is a specter and a supporting antagonist in the anime Shy. Her true identity is Clara Valhalla, and she is a member of the villainous organization Amarariruku, serving alongside its leader Stigma and the organization's other figures, such as Utsuro Karakururi. She is a teenage girl of Romanian nationality, seventeen years old, with a slim build; she stands about 157 centimeters tall, weighs roughly 44 kilograms, and has a birthday on October 31st.

In personality, Quabala is timid and somewhat withdrawn, carrying herself like a ghost. She loves fear and takes pleasure in spreading it, but she dislikes bright places and is uneasy with direct confrontation. When she is pulled into a fight, she shows clear reluctance and would prefer to avoid combat entirely, yet she still carries out the organization's plans because she has little choice in the matter.

Her motivation centers on fear itself. She uses her unsettling nature and her powers to generate terror in the public, and her role in the story is largely built around this. She appears on top of Utsuro Karakururi's Amarariruku to film Stigma and instigate fear among viewers, deliberately drawing the attention of the world's heroes. The hero Stardust responds directly to her provocation, and Quabala is forced to face him. During the battle, she tries to use her possession-based defenses against him, but Stardust is able to overpower both her and Stigma, exposing the limits of her abilities against a determined opponent.

Her key relationships are with the members of Amarariruku. Stigma is her leader, and he maintains a close and unsettling bond with her, at one point going so far as to feed her his blood. She also works alongside Utsuro Karakururi, using the group's floating structure as a stage for her fear-spreading schemes. On the opposing side, her primary counterpart is Stardust, the hero she lures into battle and is ultimately defeated by.

Her most notable ability is possession. She can possess anyone as long as she gets behind them, and while possessing a victim she becomes physically linked to that person, meaning that attacks aimed at her are instead directed at the one she controls. Her power grows stronger the more fear her victim feels, which fits her love of terror. She is also able to inflict damage that she herself receives onto the person she possesses, making direct combat against her dangerous. When she possesses an ally, she grants that person a crow-themed cloak that allows them to control black feathers as weapons and to envelop themselves in the cloak to escape. In her fight with Stardust, she also demonstrates a reflective quality that can turn an opponent's attacks back at them, though Stardust ultimately breaks through her defenses.

Her development within the story is tied to her role as a reluctant instrument of Amarariruku's plans. She begins by spreading fear from a distance through broadcasts, but she is gradually pushed into direct conflict as the heroes respond. Though she would rather stay out of the fighting, her bond with Stigma and her place in the organization leave her with little freedom to choose her own path, and her defeat at the hands of Stardust underscores the limits of relying on fear as a weapon.
