Description
Kirara Hoshi is a third-year student at Tokyo Jujutsu High who is introduced during the events leading up to the Culling Game. Due to the suspension of their close associate, Kinji Hakari, Kirara is away from the school and helps him run an underground fighting ring known as the Gachinko Fight Club, located in an abandoned parking garage in Tochigi Prefecture. Their official grade as a jujutsu sorcerer has not been revealed.
In terms of personality, Kirara is defined above all by a fierce and unwavering loyalty to Kinji Hakari. They are highly protective of him and are initially deeply distrustful of anyone associated with Jujutsu High, harboring resentment towards the institution's conservative leadership for how they have treated Hakari. This distrust is so profound that Kirara initially refuses to believe Megumi Fushiguro and Panda when they reveal that Satoru Gojo has been sealed, trusting instead in Gojo's overwhelming strength. Kirara enjoys giving people nicknames, affectionately calling Hakari "Kin" or "Kin-chan," and quickly dubs Yuji Itadori "Yu". They also visibly dislike it when Hakari's attention turns to others, such as when he mentions an ex-girlfriend or shows interest in Yuji.
Kirara's primary motivation throughout their introduction is to protect Hakari and their shared life away from Jujutsu High. They see any outsider, especially those connected to the school, as a potential threat to this. After being defeated by Megumi, who deduces the mechanics of their cursed technique, Kirara is persuaded by the group's genuine intentions and agrees to help them. Their role in the Culling Game is primarily as a support unit. While Hakari, Yuji, and Megumi enter the game's barriers, Kirara remains outside to serve as a liaison, monitoring the situation and providing strategic support. Later, during the final confrontation with Sukuna, Kirara continues to operate in a support role, working alongside Ui Ui to retrieve the bodies of fallen comrades and provide rear-line assistance.
Kirara's key relationship is undeniably with Kinji Hakari. The two are almost always seen together, and their interactions are strongly implied to be romantic, although the series never officially defines their relationship. Kirara is deeply devoted to Hakari, and this devotion is a core part of their character. They also have a prior acquaintance with Panda, as fellow students, which makes Kirara feel a sense of betrayal when Panda appears to be working with the school against Hakari. Their relationship with Megumi Fushiguro begins antagonistically but evolves into a grudging respect after Megumi successfully deduces Kirara's complex cursed technique.
Over the course of their appearance, Kirara develops from a hostile, defensive antagonist into a trusted, if cautious, ally of the main characters. Their initial distrust gives way to cooperation once they are convinced of the protagonists' sincerity and the severity of the threat facing the jujutsu world. By the end of the series, it is implied that Kirara has been reinstated as an active jujutsu sorcerer, as they are seen wearing the Tokyo Jujutsu High uniform alongside Hakari.
Kirara's most notable ability is their innate cursed technique, Love Rendezvous (also known as Interstellar Flight). This is one of the most complex techniques in the series, based on the stars of the Southern Cross constellation. The technique involves Kirara marking people, objects, or cursed energy with one of five star names: Imai, Acrux, Mimosa, Ginan, and Gacrux. Once marked, targets interact based on two core rules. First, targets marked with the same star are attracted to each other. Second, and more crucially, there is a mandatory order of approach; a target can only approach another star if it follows the correct sequence from the farthest star from Earth (Imai) to the closest (Gacrux). If a target attempts to move out of order, a powerful repelling force prevents their movement. This allows Kirara to create nearly impenetrable, barrier-like zones to block entry to specific areas. Beyond their technique, Kirara is a highly skilled and tactical fighter, matching Megumi in intellect and effectively using their ability to control the battlefield and disable opponents like Panda.
