TV-Series
Description
Mero is a merrow, a type of mermaid, who traveled from her own world to Earth. She works at a local fish market, where she also sells fish. To maintain a human-like form with legs while on land, she drinks a special supplement called MAXI-MAN IMPACT, which is a maca-based product. Despite this transformation, she cannot swim in her human form and she dislikes salt water.

Mero has a very energetic and outgoing personality. She is passionate about karaoke and often speaks with an affected Kansai dialect, which she believes suits her personal image. She is confident and carefree about her body, showing little concern for the societal pressures around appearance that trouble some of the other characters. She takes pride in her physique, even though her frequent diet of fish three times a day and lack of swimming have led to flabby arms from muscular atrophy. Her main motivation is to enjoy life and have fun, whether through singing, trying new foods, or spending time with her friends.

In the story, Mero serves as a supporting character who provides both comic relief and a contrasting perspective on body image and self-acceptance. While the main character, Elfuda, struggles with weight loss and societal expectations, Mero remains unapologetically self-assured and encourages others to embrace themselves as they are. She is a loyal and supportive friend, particularly to Elfuda, and her upbeat attitude often lightens the mood of the group. Her key relationships include her friendship with Elfuda and interactions with the other fantasy creatures who visit the massage therapist Tomoatsu Naoe for help with weight-related issues.

Mero undergoes limited character development compared to the protagonist, but she consistently reinforces the series themes of body positivity and friendship. Her most notable ability is her transformation from a merrow into a humanoid form by drinking the supplement, which allows her to walk on land and participate in everyday human activities. In her natural state, she is a merrow, and she retains her energetic and sociable nature in both forms.
