Kayira is an African child soldier who fought alongside Jamal in armed conflict before both joined the Outcast Brigade, a terrorist group operating in Africa. They served as inexperienced combatants under desperate conditions prior to recruitment at the end of the first season.

As child soldiers, Kayira and Jamal proved resourceful in battle. During one engagement, they devised a coordinated tactic against a Mil Mi-24 helicopter; Kayira safely exited her Exoframe unit before Jamal hurled the empty machine into the helicopter's tail rotor, causing it to crash. This demonstrated their early reliance on improvised strategies and mutual trust.

After a ceasefire in their conflict zone, Zahir—later exposed as a key Outcast Brigade figure—offered Kayira, Jamal, and other child soldiers demobilization and civilian reintegration. They instead chose to follow Zahir, becoming the core of the Outcast Brigade. Within the group, Kayira adopts a lethal approach, spearheading missions without hesitation to advance the Brigade's objectives.

Following a time skip, Kayira serves as a committed officer within the Outcast Brigade alongside Jamal. They execute a local warlord who had been harassing another group of child soldiers, subsequently recruiting those children into their ranks. This action mirrors Zahir's earlier method of recruiting them. By the second season, the Outcast Brigade, including Kayira, integrates into the Azanian Army.
