Description
Alicia Ehnleit is a central figure in her world as the original protagonist of an otome game. She is a young woman of fifteen years who hails from a rural background. Despite being a commoner, her possession of the rare and valuable light attribute magic allows her to gain admission as a special scholarship student at the Royal Academy.

In terms of personality, Alicia is defined by her cheerful, empathetic, and selfless nature. She is incapable of ignoring someone in trouble, a trait that often leads her into various predicaments. Her kindness is her greatest strength, making her well-liked by many, but it is paired with a notable naivety and a lack of understanding of aristocratic society's complex codes. This can cause her to act impulsively or inadvertently break social norms, such as addressing royalty with undue familiarity, which sometimes draws criticism from her peers. In some versions of the story, particularly the anime, Alicia is portrayed as being subject to the "force of the game's scenario," which compels her to act against her own will at critical moments to keep the original plot from collapsing.

Alicia's primary motivation is to follow the path of a heroine, which includes forming bonds with her companions and preparing to defeat the Demon Lord. Her role in the story is intrinsically linked to Yumiella Dolkness, the hidden boss and villainess of the game. Alicia's light magic and lower level cause her to perceive Yumiella not as a person, but as a terrifying figure shrouded in a dark, impenetrable black haze. This perceptual distortion, combined with Yumiella's immense dark magic, leads Alicia to instinctively fear her and, in the original novel, to develop an irrational suspicion that Yumiella is the Demon Lord. Her actions are often driven by this misunderstanding, creating the central conflict of the narrative.

Her key relationships are primarily with the three male leads of the game: the prince Edwin Valschein, as well as Patrick Ashbatten, William Ares, and Oswald Grimsarde. She forms quick, close friendships with them, and they become her protectors. This protection, however, has the unintended consequence of hindering her growth, as she is shielded from the dangerous combat needed to increase her level. Her relationship with Yumiella is the most complex and varies significantly across adaptations. In the novel, it remains antagonistic and fearful, while in the manga and anime, she is able to overcome her fear, apologize for her misconceptions, and even learn from Yumiella.

Alicia’s development is closely tied to her growth in power. Initially, her level is low due to being overprotected. In a key event across all versions, Yumiella forces her into intense, life-threatening dungeon training to raise her level drastically. This experience is traumatic in the novel, cementing her fear of Yumiella. However, in the manga and anime, it is a turning point where she gains significant strength, surpassing her protectors, and begins to see Yumiella more clearly. Her ultimate fate differs by medium: in the web novel, her continued antagonism leads to her death; in the light novel, she is imprisoned; and in the anime, the game's forced scenario compels her to attack Yumiella after the Demon Lord's defeat, but she is freed from this control by her friends' love and reconciles with Yumiella.

Notable abilities stem from her rare light magic. She can cast a variety of spells, including offensive ones like Light Ball and Holy Lance, the defensive Holy Shield, and the healing spell Holy Heal. She also has non-combat abilities like Sun Rain, which creates a beautiful but harmless shower of light particles. As she levels up, particularly after her intense training with Yumiella, she develops more advanced techniques, such as creating whips or discs of light for attack. Her power has the potential to grow considerably, allowing her to defeat powerful monsters that once easily defeated her.
