Description
Hiroto Honjō, a reserved high school student with black hair and green eyes, masks his grumpy detachment behind a composed uniformed appearance. His childhood friendship with Saki Akutsu endures her constant teasing, though she respects his academic focus compared to their peer Mamoru Suzuhara. Initially resistant to joining Aya Chiyono’s birthday plans, Hiroto reluctantly agrees after Saki fabricates an urgent discussion, later realizing her intent was to curb his self-isolation. He voices practical worries about assisting Malet, an undocumented figure, and dismisses the group’s antics as immature.

When his anonymous online venting—criticizing his parents and mocking lasting friendships—leaks publicly, Hiroto faces social backlash and a rift with Saki after she confronts his harsh posts. Beneath his cynical exterior, he wrestles with resentment toward parental expectations he still obeys. Gradually, he softens his defenses, admitting he enjoyed the group’s adventures and bonding with Souma, a former bullying target, even proposing a baseball game together.

Contrary to assumptions about his studiousness, Hiroto’s carried books conceal adventure novels rather than academic texts. His growth peaks in candidly confessing self-loathing for yielding to external pressures, contrasting his emerging embrace of spontaneity and connection. Vulnerable moments—reassuring Souma’s inherent worth, privately valuing the shared experiences he once dismissed—mark his shift toward openness.
