Description
Pazu is a veteran field operative of Public Security Section 9 who appears as a supporting character in the events of Ghost in the Shell: SAC2045 The Last Human. He is one of the unit's long-serving members, and in the 2045 timeline he rejoins the reformed Section 9 when it is reorganized to address the emergence of post-human threats. Before his career with Section 9, he is rumored to have been involved with organized crime, and he carries a streetwise, hardened edge into his work with the team. In earlier versions of the Ghost in the Shell franchise he was portrayed as a grizzled, older agent, but in SAC2045 his character design is noticeably younger and cleaner, giving him a markedly different appearance while preserving his established function as the unit's versatile all-rounder.

In terms of personality, Pazu is a quiet, reserved, and somewhat detached individual who often operates like a lone wolf. He is unpredictable and pragmatic, and he is not afraid to use underhanded or ruthless methods to get results; he knows a wide range of dirty tricks and is willing to employ them when a situation demands it. He also carries a reputation as a womanizer, a trait that was established during his first encounter with Major Motoko Kusanagi, when he made a remark about never sleeping with the same woman twice. Despite his rough and distant manner, he proves to be a dependable and effective member of the unit.

His motivations are largely professional. As a member of Section 9, he devotes himself to undercover work, field operations, and the team's broader mission, including the countermeasures against post-human activity. He demonstrates a steady sense of loyalty to his comrades and to the objectives of the section, even though his personal demeanor remains guarded.

Within the story, Pazu operates as one of Section 9's supporting agents rather than a central figure. During the climactic stages of the conflict surrounding the refugee group, he remains alongside Borma and Saito and continues to support the team through the final act of the operation. In terms of key relationships, he is most frequently paired with Borma, the unit's bomb specialist, and he also works closely with the sniper Saito. His professional relationship with Major Kusanagi dates back to their first meeting, and he serves under her command within the reformed section. His development over the course of the franchise is fairly consistent: he remains a reliable support operative, though his visual redesign in SAC_2045 represents the most obvious change to the character when compared with his earlier appearances.

Pazu's notable abilities center on undercover investigation and infiltration. He is highly skilled at deception, and he excels at patient, methodical investigative work of the kind that requires blending in and gathering information over time. He is also an accomplished hand-to-hand fighter, favoring a folding knife in close-quarters combat, and he is an experienced street fighter. As a general-purpose operative, he is capable across a broad range of tasks, which makes him a dependable jack-of-all-trades for the team.
