Description
Akihito Narihisago, formerly a homicide detective, now operates as the core persona "Sakaido" within the Mizuhanome System's id well investigations. Imprisoned for murdering the serial killer "Challenger"—who brutally killed his daughter Muku—this act triggered his wife Ayako's suicide, leaving Narihisago shattered by trauma and guilt.

Upon entering an id well, he becomes "Brilliant Detective Sakaido," a younger amnesiac version unaware of his past. Sakaido dons light pink hair, a long brown trench coat, yellow scarf, and distinctive large black shorts with leggings. This avatar excels in deduction, meticulously reconstructing fragmented crime scenes to solve the recurring murder of a girl named Kaeru—later identified as Kiki Asukai—whose death pattern reveals clues about the id well's owner. Emotionally stable and empathetic, Sakaido prioritizes saving lives over solving puzzles, contrasting sharply with Narihisago.

Narihisago’s psyche revolves around his vendetta against serial killers. He exploits id well insights to dismantle their self-perceptions, driving several to suicide—a ruthless strategy unsettling fellow investigators. His obsession targets John Walker (Uraido), a manipulator exploiting Kiki Asukai's dream-projection abilities to create killers. Walker’s id well presence ignites Narihisago's fury due to his indirect role in Muku's death.

During Kiki Asukai's id well arc, Narihisago confronts an illusion of his unbroken family. Choosing to aid colleague Hondomachi in exposing Walker over remaining in this fantasy, he symbolically accepts his family’s loss and embraces his role as protector. Post-arc, he builds a collaborative partnership with field analyst Koharu Hondomachi, grounded in mutual respect.

Physically, Narihisago appears exhausted and unshaven in prison garb, while Sakaido embodies an idealized detective. Narihisago’s methods blend intuition and logic, sometimes using unconventional tactics like floating limbs in unstable id wells. His interactions include a volatile dynamic with serial killer Fukuda (Anaido), who briefly collaborates with Sakaido, and evolving trust with Hondomachi after initial friction.

His arc concludes by surviving a gunshot wound and psychologically trapping John Walker in an id well, ending his quest for vengeance while affirming his dedication to justice.
