Description
Hisui is a central figure in the story of Witchy Precure! -MIRAI DAYS-, appearing before the protagonists Mirai Asahina and Riko Izayoi as a mysterious young girl with distinctive jade-colored hair and matching eyes that feature a unique butterfly pattern in the pupils. When first encountered, she is estimated to be around ten years old, though she displays a remarkable and unexplained tendency to grow rapidly in both size and apparent age over a short period, eventually reaching approximately fourteen years old as the narrative progresses.
In terms of personality, Hisui initially presents many traits typical of a young child. She is curious, particularly about magic and the magical world, and shows an affectionate side, such as when she finds Mirai's talking teddy bear, Mofurun, to be adorable. However, as she undergoes her accelerated growth, her personality matures simultaneously. She begins to exhibit a desire for independence and can become frustrated when Mirai and Riko treat her like a much younger child, showing signs of adolescent rebellion and a struggle for self-identity.
Her primary motivation is intrinsically linked to her own mysterious nature. From the moment she appears, she expresses a need to be with Mirai and Riko, instinctively seeking their protection and guidance. As the story unfolds, her role evolves from that of a dependent child in need of safeguarding to a more active participant who wishes to understand her own origins and purpose, particularly her profound connection to a missing friend of the heroines, Kotoha Hanami.
The key relationships in Hisui's life are with Mirai and Riko, who take on a clear parental role in caring for her, with Riko often acting as the more responsible, rule-focused guardian and Mirai as the more carefree and affectionate parent. Hisui’s relationship with Kotoha is the most significant and mysterious aspect of her character. It is ultimately revealed that Hisui is not a separate person but a fragment of Kotoha's power and will, created during an attack by the antagonist, Ire. This revelation redefines her existence, establishing that she is essentially an extension of Kotoha, formed to protect a part of her essence. This leads to a resolution where Hisui and Kotoha come to coexist within a single body, occasionally swapping control with one another.
Hisui undergoes significant development, starting as a silent, enigmatic figure and growing into a distinct individual with her own feelings and desires, only to discover that her identity is intertwined with that of another being. This journey forces her to confront complex ideas about selfhood and sacrifice. Regarding her abilities, Hisui normally cannot use magic despite her origins. However, in moments of extreme crisis or determination, she has demonstrated the ability to unleash magical power, such as using a wooden wand to fend off a monster to protect the Precures. This power seems to be deeply connected to her will and her intrinsic link to Kotoha's immense magical heritage.
