Description
Mirai Asahina, also known as Cure Miracle, is the protagonist of the anime series Witchy Precure! and its sequel Witchy Precure!! ~MIRAI DAYS~. Originally a thirteen-year-old girl living in the non-magical world of Tsunagi, she is characterized by her boundless curiosity, high energy, and an infectious enthusiasm for anything mysterious or fun. She is friendly, open-hearted, and a little bit of a glutton, especially when it comes to the food at Magic School. Her most cherished possession is her teddy bear Mofurun, a gift from her grandmother, which later becomes a living companion and a key component of her transformation. Her initial motivation is to study the magic she has come to love and to gain the admiration of her partner, Liko Izayoi, but her deeper drive is to protect both the Magic World and the non-magical world from threats.
In the original series, Mirai discovers a young witch named Liko searching for the Linkle Stone Emerald and, after a confrontation with the Dark Magicians, gains the power to transform into the legendary Cure Miracle. She cannot transform alone; she requires Mofurun, a Linkle Stone, and Liko’s presence, activating the transformation through the phrase "Miracle Magical Jewelry" while holding Mofurun’s paws. As Cure Miracle, she wield a magic wand known as the Linkle Stick and uses the power of Linkle Stones to access different elemental styles: Diamond (neutral), Ruby (fire), Sapphire (water), and Topaz (electricity). Later, she gains the Alexandrite Style and the Rainbow Carriage for even more powerful attacks. Her powers are centered on light and life, symbolizing hope and positivity, and she often serves as the motivator for her team.
As the story progresses, Mirai’s role expands from a curious novice to a capable leader among the Precure. She forms a deep, inseparable bond with Liko, and together they act as maternal figures to Kotoha Hanami, also known as Cure Felice, after her birth as the fairy Ha-chan. Mirai’s development explores her growth from a naïve girl who sees magic as pure wonder into a determined warrior who understands that true magic comes from the connections between people. In the sequel series Witchy Precure!! ~MIRAI DAYS~, set several years later, Mirai is now a college student living in the non-magical world, still accompanied by Mofurun. When a new disaster threatens both worlds, she reunites with Liko after months apart, and the two confront both their past and their future, reaffirming their bond and their roles as legendary Precure. Throughout her journey, Mirai embodies themes of friendship, courage, and the belief that even ordinary individuals can achieve greatness through heart and determination.
