Rie Takahashi
Description
Rie Takahashi is a Japanese voice actress and singer born on February 27, 1994, in Saitama Prefecture. She is affiliated with the talent agency 81 Produce. Her interest in voice acting began during her high school years when she noticed that many male characters in anime were voiced by female actors. She joined her school's broadcasting club and won a special citation for voice acting at a high school animation fair. After participating in an audition sponsored by 81 Produce, she enrolled in their affiliated training school, 81 Actor's Studio, and formally joined the agency in 2013 following her graduation.
Takahashi's career began with minor and supporting roles in 2013. Her first leading role came in 2015 as Futaba Ichinose in the anime series Seiyu's Life!, a part that also led to her forming the musical unit Earphones with her co-stars. That same year, she gained further attention for her role as Miki Naoki in School-Live!.
The following year, 2016, proved to be a significant turning point in her career. She was cast in two of her most iconic roles: the explosion-obsessed arch-wizard Megumin in KonoSuba and the half-elf Emilia in Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World. Later that year, she also took over the voice role of Mash Kyrielight in the Fate franchise, a character she would continue to voice across numerous anime adaptations and games. Her performance in these and other roles earned her the Best Female Newcomer Award at the 10th Seiyu Awards in March 2016.
Takahashi continued to build an extensive and diverse portfolio throughout the late 2010s and 2020s. She voiced the titular character Takagi in Teasing Master Takagi-san, Ena Saitō in Laid-Back Camp, Ernesti Echevarria in Knight's & Magic, and Mirai Asahina/Cure Miracle in Witchy Pretty Cure!. She has also taken on prominent roles in series such as Sumi Sakurasawa in Rent-A-Girlfriend, Tomo Aizawa in Tomo-chan Is a Girl!, and Ai Hoshino in Oshi no Ko. Her filmography demonstrates a wide range, encompassing fantasy, comedy, romance, and action genres.
Beyond her voice acting, Takahashi is also active as a singer. As a member of Earphones, she has performed theme songs for several series. In February 2021, she announced her debut as a solo singer under the label A-Sketch, releasing her first album, Tōmei na Fusen, in June of that year. Her musical contributions to anime often extend to her roles, such as performing the ending theme "Stay Alive" for Re:Zero.
Her work has continued to receive industry recognition. In March 2022, she won the Best Supporting Actress Award at the 16th Seiyu Awards for her performances, including her role as Emilia in Re:Zero. She is also known for her recurring collaborations, frequently voicing characters in the Isekai Quartet series and its films, which feature casts from multiple isekai franchises including KonoSuba and Re:Zero.
