Description
Hime Gotō is a 10-year-old elementary school student with fair skin, straight black hair featuring square bangs, and green eyes. She lives with her single father, Kakushi Gotō, following her mother's death in an accident before the story begins. Hime possesses a kind, warm, and industrious personality. She actively helps her father with household tasks, deliberately avoiding questions about his past or his concealed occupation as an ecchi manga artist. Sensitive to his feelings, she steers clear of topics that might upset him. This empathy leads to actions like limiting her birthday party invitations to lessen his burden.

Her relationship with Kakushi is deeply affectionate and central to her life; she prioritizes time with him over peers. Kakushi strives to hide his profession, but Hime discovers the secret after he suffers a work injury and falls into a coma. Flash-forwards depict Hime at age 18. Her appearance remains similar, but her eyes lose their childhood brightness, becoming weary and dull. Awaiting her father's awakening from a year-long coma, she is now fully aware of his career. During this time, she inherits artistic talent from her maternal grandfather, a renowned painter, and develops her own passion for creating manga—a pursuit she intentionally keeps secret from Kakushi.

Hime interacts respectfully with her teacher, Ichiko Rokujo, and classmates including Silvia Kobu, Hina Tomi, and Riko Kitsuchi. She also learns to cook Indonesian cuisine under the guidance of the housekeeper, Nadila. Her full name, 後藤 姫 (Gotō Hime), incorporates a pun: "Hime" means "princess," while "Gotō" combines "rear" (後) and "wisteria" (藤). Together with her father's name, it forms "Kakushigoto" (秘め事 or かくしごと), meaning "secret".
