Description
Dot, also known online as Nidothing, is a core member of the Rising Volt Tacklers, the group of adventurers traveling on the airship Brave Olivine. She is also the niece of the ship’s cook, Murdock. While she serves as the crew's technological expert, having programmed much of the ship’s computer systems, her daily life on the airship is rather secluded; she spends almost all her time inside her private quarters and rarely interacts with the other members face-to-face.

This reclusive behavior stems from a deeply shy and reserved personality, which contrasts sharply with the vibrant and energetic online persona she has created. On the internet, Dot is Nidothing, a popular and cheerful influencer who creates videos that teach beginner trainers about various aspects of the Pokémon world, from type advantages to the history of Poké Balls. Her catchphrase as Nidothing is an upbeat "What's up!" Her design reinforces this duality; when she is herself, her long hair covers most of her face, but when she performs as Nidothing, she lifts her fringe. This is a deliberate visual reference to the Pokémon Cherrim, which remains closed and bud-like but opens its petals to reveal its face when exposed to sunlight.

Dot's primary motivation for joining the Rising Volt Tacklers was to gain real-world experience to make her online content more authentic and inspired. Before boarding the Brave Olivine, she struggled to find topics for her videos, feeling she lacked personal experiences to draw from. Following advice from the popular Paldean streamer Iono, who is a significant figure and friend to Dot, she decided to travel the world with Friede’s crew, though she initially told her mother it would only be on a trial basis.

Within the story, her role often involves providing information and technical support, but her emotional journey is central. She is initially very hostile and dismissive toward the young protagonists Liko and Roy, communicating with them only through drawings delivered by her partner Pokémon, Quaxly. A key moment in her development occurs when Liko, who is a big fan of Nidothing without knowing Dot’s secret, tries to befriend her. During a livestream, Dot reads a question from Liko about how to approach someone who is socially withdrawn and, touched by the question’s sincerity, answers it with kindness. This begins a slow thaw in her demeanor. Murdock’s patient attempts to reach her, such as leaving homemade donuts in the kitchen for her to find at night, also help her open up.

Over time, Dot becomes more comfortable with Liko and Roy, eventually even leaving her room to help search for Liko when she goes missing, demonstrating a growing bond of friendship. Despite this progress, she still struggles with the idea of facing the world as herself. Her anxieties come to a head during her Terastal training, where she initially tries to hide behind her Nidothing persona to battle the Gym Leader Iono, revealing that her costume acts as a crutch for her lack of self-confidence.

Notable abilities include her genius-level skill with computers and programming, which is vital to the Rising Volt Tacklers' operations. As a Pokémon trainer, her main partner is a Quaxly, which she officially caught after the Pokémon had already been living with her by choice for some time. She has also been seen with a Tinkatink. Her analytical mind makes her a strategic battler, though her shyness can sometimes hinder her performance when she is not in costume.
