Description
Coral is a major recurring antagonist in the Pokémon Horizons series, serving as an admin for the villainous organization known as the Explorers. Her background reveals that she was once a powerful but aggressive trainer whose violent battle style, often relying on her Pokémon Glalie's Self-Destruct move, caused widespread destruction and alienated her from others. Her destructive potential and fierce personality eventually caught the attention of Hamber, a senior figure in the Explorers, who recruited her into the organization. Under Hamber's personal tutelage, she was the second recruit to be trained after another member named Amethio, and she eventually rose through the ranks to become one of the organization's commanders.

In terms of personality, Coral is characterized by a volatile and unpredictable nature. On the surface, she often appears cheerful, playful, and even childish, occasionally referring to herself in the third person and openly declaring how cute she is. However, this frivolous exterior masks a sharp tongue and a deeply reckless, short-tempered core. She is known for making passive-aggressive and mocking remarks toward her allies, particularly when they fail at a mission. Her defining trait is her extreme impatience and lack of discipline; when things do not go her way or she is provoked, she quickly becomes enraged and unhinged. In these states, she acts on pure impulse, often ignoring the orders of her superiors and the counsel of her partner, Sidian. This recklessness most famously manifests in her repeated commands for her Glalie to use Self-Destruct in battle, a move that causes massive collateral damage and frequently backfires, leaving her own Pokémon unable to continue fighting. She also holds intense grudges, cares about the pristine condition of rare collectibles, and is remarkably indiscreet, sometimes carelessly revealing the Explorers' secret plans in front of her enemies.

Coral's main motivation stems from a desire for a place where she can belong and act on her violent impulses without restraint. Before joining the Explorers, her aggressive nature made her an outcast, but within the organization, she found a purpose that allows her to indulge her love for destruction and combat. Her primary role in the story is as a persistent field operative for the Explorers, sent on various missions to hinder the protagonists, Liko and Roy, and to help the organization achieve its ultimate goals, such as capturing the Legendary Pokémon Black Rayquaza and obtaining the power of Terapagos. She frequently works in tandem with her fellow admin, Sidian, forming a chaotic and bickering but effective duo. While the two are partners, Coral often disregards Sidian's more cautious advice, leading to their shared defeats and subsequent retreats. Her key rival among the protagonists is Roy, whom she has directly challenged to battle on multiple occasions.

Throughout the series, Coral undergoes subtle development. While she remains brash and temperamental, her missions become more complex, including a notable arc where she and Sidian go undercover as students at Naranja Academy under the false name Coliflor, or Cornbread in English versions. She initially struggles with stealth and patience, nearly blowing her cover due to her temper, but she gradually adapts to the role. Her notable abilities are almost entirely centered on Pokémon battles. Her signature Pokémon is a Glalie, which she uses to unleash devastating Ice-type attacks like Blizzard. Her most infamous ability, if it can be called that, is a tactical one: she is exceptionally quick to resort to the move Self-Destruct, a high-risk strategy that prioritizes causing maximum damage to everything around her over securing a clean victory. During her mission in the Area Zero crater, she also captures a Scream Tail, a Pokémon she nicknames Screamypuff, adding a new and powerful member to her team.
