TV-Series
Description
Calcée is a prominent antagonist in Pokémon Horizons: The Series, serving as one of the administrators of the Explorers, a secretive organization. Her Japanese name is Agate, and her English name is Chalce. She is a recurring adversary to the Rising Volt Tacklers, the group of protagonists at the center of the series.

Before joining the Explorers, Calcé was a schoolteacher who had aspired to open her own school in her hometown to provide children with a better future. Unfortunately, her school was forced to close due to a lack of funds, as many families could not afford the tuition. It was after this difficult period that she was approached and recruited by Hamber, the Explorers' butler and mentor. He offered her a place in the organization, promising that by climbing its ranks through her own merit, she could one day see her wish of opening a new school fulfilled. She was the fourth and final administrator to be trained by Hamber, following Amethio, Coral, and Sidian.

Calcé is characterized by her calm, collected, and highly intellectual demeanor. She rarely displays strong emotions, preferring to observe situations with a calculating and analytical eye. As a skeptic, she often dismisses sensational rumors, such as those found in the magazine Occulture, as nonsense, though she acknowledges that some truths are better left undiscovered. Despite her composure, she can be quite critical and sarcastic towards her allies when they fail in their missions. Her ambition is driven by her past as a teacher and her desire to secure the funds needed to re-establish her school, a goal that aligns her with the Explorers' leadership. She is primarily motivated by the pursuit of this personal objective, seeing her work within the organization as a means to an end.

In the story, Calcé operates as a behind-the-scenes strategist and information specialist. She rarely engages in direct confrontations, instead focusing on research, surveillance, and technological operations. One of her most notable roles was taking charge of the plan to summon the Black Rayquaza near Levincia, operating a machine that mimicked Terapagos's energy to lure the legendary Pokémon. She later infiltrated Naranja Academy under the false identity of a teacher named Salsifis (or Chive) to secretly monitor Liko and her friends. During this time, she was responsible for a cyberattack on the academy's systems to steal data on Terapagos. She also played a key part in a scheme to trap Liko and Amethio, showcasing her willingness to use subterfuge to achieve her goals.

Her key relationships within the Explorers are complex. She works most closely with fellow administrator Spinel, with whom she shares a talent for discreet information-gathering and manipulation. The two form a pragmatic alliance, often cooperating in their schemes and expressing a shared belief that their colleague Amethio is a liability to the organization's future. Calcé has also been shown secretly monitoring Hamber and Amethio, indicating her involvement in the internal power struggles among the Explorers. She maintains a working relationship with the more volatile administrators Coral and Sidian, often acting as a voice of reason and ordering their retreat when a situation becomes too risky.

Throughout the series, Calcé's development is closely tied to her increasing alignment with Spinel's ambitious agenda. She moves from being a more passive observer at early meetings to an active participant in schemes designed to eliminate rivals within the Explorers. She fully supports Spinel's rise to power, viewing it as the best path forward for the organization and her own objectives. However, she has subtly shown signs of discomfort with the most ruthless extremes of his methods, hinting at a more complex inner conflict as she witnesses what the organization has become under his influence.

In terms of notable abilities, Calcé is a highly competent Pokémon trainer who specializes in Psychic-type Pokémon. Her primary partner is a Medicham, which shares her calm and reserved nature and is capable of powerful attacks like Psybeam and using its psychic powers to manipulate the environment. She also owns a Xatu, which she primarily uses for its ability to teleport, allowing her to make quick escapes or sudden entrances. Beyond her battling skills, Calcé is perhaps most dangerous because of her technical and intellectual prowess. She is proficient in designing and operating advanced technology, such as the device for summoning Rayquaza, and is skilled in hacking and data theft, making her a formidable infiltrator and information broker.
