Description
Conia is a recurring character in Pokémon Horizons: The Series and a member of the Explorers, a mysterious organization that serves as the primary antagonistic force. She operates as one of the two direct subordinates under Amethio, alongside her partner Zirc. Information about her life before joining the Explorers is not provided, but it is revealed that she and Zirc joined the organization on the same day. After an initial meeting with Hamber, they were assigned to the team of Amethio, a young administrator who is also the grandson of Gibeon, the Explorers' leader. While Zirc was initially annoyed at being assigned to a young and untested leader, Conia saw it as an opportunity to quickly rise through the organization's ranks. Over time, both came to deeply respect Amethio's competence and sense of duty, pledging their loyalty to him.
In terms of appearance, Conia is a young woman with fair skin and long, grayish-blue hair. She has blue eyes which feature pink highlights. Her standard outfit consists of a formal, grayish-purple long-sleeved shirt with a pink stripe on the left side. Over this, she wears a gray jacket, black gloves, and a matching gray skirt with a pink stripe. She completes her look with dark gray leggings and grayish-purple high-heeled boots with white soles.
Conia's personality initially presents as ruthless and serious, befitting her role as an antagonist. In her first encounters with the protagonists, she is shown to be willing to threaten a young trainer, Liko, and use her Pokémon as a hostage to achieve her mission objectives. She appears to be the most violent of her trio, acting with direct force. However, this stern facade conceals a much softer and more comedic side. When tasked with caring for Liko's captured Sprigatito, Conia becomes completely infatuated with the small Grass Cat Pokémon. She dotes on it, showering the captive with toys, attention, and food, and even briefly considers keeping it for herself. Despite these lighter moments, Conia is genuinely loyal to Amethio. She follows his orders without question, refrains from interfering with his actions, and demonstrates a strong desire to remain by his side, even when doing so may harm her own career prospects within the Explorers.
Conia's primary role in the story is as a persistent field agent for the Explorers, tasked with retrieving Liko's mysterious pendant and later pursuing other objectives, such as the Black Rayquaza. She frequently engages in aerial and ground-based confrontations with the Rising Volt Tacklers, the series' protagonists. Her key relationship is with her superior, Amethio. She is fiercely loyal to him, and this devotion deepens over the course of the series. When Amethio later attempts to distance himself from her and Zirc for their own good, insisting they have no future if they stay with him, both refuse to abandon him. They reaffirm their loyalty, leading Amethio to relent and accept their support, acknowledging that he is in their debt.
Throughout the series, Conia shows signs of development, primarily in her unwavering loyalty. Her character evolves from a simple subordinate following orders to a trusted and valued companion who actively chooses to stay with Amethio against the organization's potential wishes. Her relationship with the protagonists remains antagonistic, but her initial cold efficiency is often undercut by her humorous and softer personality traits, which emerge whenever her mission is not at the forefront.
Conia possesses notable abilities as a Pokémon trainer. She has displayed proficiency in both aerial and ground-based combat. For transportation and battle, she uses a Skarmory, which is capable of using the move Whirlwind. Her primary battling Pokémon is a Golduck, which she deploys in direct confrontations. She also uses a SmartRotom, a smartphone-like device, to communicate with her fellow Explorers.
