Description
Fairy Tone is the collective name for a group of eight small, fairy-like creatures that appear in the film Eiga Suite Precure: Torimodose! Kokoro ga Tsunagu Kiseki no Melody. They are jewel-like beings whose heads resemble multifaceted gemstones, each one distinguished by a specific color: pink, white, orange, yellow, green, light blue, blue, and purple. Their designs are simple, featuring a white heart-shaped face with basic features, and each one ends its sentences with a unique repeated sound, such as dodo or rere. The Fairy Tones originate from the musical kingdom of Major Land and serve as essential partners to the four Precure warriors. Their primary function is to enable the Precure to transform by being inserted into devices called Cure Modules, and they also power various attacks and special abilities. In addition to their combat roles, they are responsible for collecting and storing the scattered musical notes that form the legendary Melody of Happiness.
As individuals, the Fairy Tones possess distinct and highly varied personalities. Milly, who is orange, is cheerful and lively, while Fari, who is yellow, is known for being confident, excitable, and occasionally anxious, with noticeably shorter arms than the others. Silly, the blue Fairy Tone, is portrayed as courageous and selfless, often taking on a leadership role. Dory, the pink Tone, shares an active and energetic nature with her partner, Cure Melody, whereas Rery, the white Tone, is calm and intelligent. Dodory, the purple Fairy Tone, has a more mature and composed demeanor and is notable for having star-shaped pupils in her eyes, a feature unique among the group. Despite their varied natures, all of the Fairy Tones refer to themselves using the pronoun boku and are deeply earnest about their mission to protect music and assist the Precure.
The motivations of the Fairy Tones are firmly rooted in their duty to safeguard the music and harmony of Major Land. They are committed to collecting the notes of the legendary score and aiding the Precure in their battle against those who would spread the Melody of Sorrow. Their role in the film's story is to support the main heroines, Hibiki Hojo, Kanade Minamino, Eren Kurokawa, and Ako Shirabe, providing them with the power needed to transform into their Cure forms and perform their finishing moves. They work closely alongside their feline companion, Hummy, and live together at Hibiki's house for most of the series. A particularly close relationship exists between Dodory and the young Cure Ako Shirabe, as Dodory is capable of reading Ako's heart and even speaking on her behalf, a skill that was especially important before Ako publicly revealed her identity as Cure Muse.
Throughout the suite precure series, the Fairy Tones demonstrate significant growth and teamwork. They are shown holding meetings and training together to improve their coordination in battle. In a notable display of unity, all eight Fairy Tones have the ability to combine their powers, temporarily transforming into a golden, winged entity known as the Crescendo Tone. This fusion grants the Precure a tremendous increase in power, allowing them to achieve stronger forms, such as Crescendo Cure Melody, and unleash their most potent attacks. This collective strength is crucial in the climactic battles against powerful adversaries like the film's antagonist, Howling.
The Fairy Tones possess a wide array of magical and musical abilities. Their most fundamental power is enabling the transformation of Hibiki, Kanade, Eren, and Ako into Cure Melody, Cure Rhythm, Cure Beat, and Cure Muse, respectively. Each Fairy Tone is associated with a specific power, such as Dory with the power of Dream, Rery with Legend, Miry with Miracle, Fary with Fantasy, Sory with Soul, Lary with Love, Shiry with Shine, and Dodory with Excellence. When not used for transformation, the Fairy Tones can be played like ocarinas, and the melodies they produce have various effects, including healing wounded hearts, boosting the listener's energy or concentration, and strengthening the resolve of the Precure. They can also act as wings to grant the Cures the ability to fly, dispel magical barriers created by their enemies, and imitate the sounds of a wide range of musical instruments, from wind chimes to drums.
