Tokio Furuta is one of five male high school students central to the story. Handsome yet flawed in personality, his social interactions suffer. Tokio owes a monetary debt to Sakiko Horinomiya, a wealthy girl from a prominent family, alongside similar debts held by Shigekazu Ashida, Kotaro Tojima, Aki Sahashi, and Shun Gotouda.

Sakiko orchestrates the group's entry into the "Motemen Koushien" tournament, intending the prize money to settle their debts. Initially reluctant, Tokio is forced to participate after accidentally staining an expensive carpet.

Preparing for the competition, Tokio and the group cultivate their charm and talents—like cooking or athletics—to succeed in its challenges. During this process, Tokio develops romantic feelings for Sakiko, mirroring affections emerging among the other boys.

As the competition progresses, Tokio navigates its pressures alongside the group, reconciling personal shortcomings and evolving dynamics.
