Nonoko Kishii is the central protagonist of The Dragon Dentist. She is a fifteen-year-old girl who becomes a newly appointed Dragon Dentist after taking a test motivated primarily by the promise of delicious food, and she is subsequently chosen by the dragon itself for this role. Despite being a rookie who has been in her position for only a short time, she possesses a deep understanding of her responsibilities and the importance of her mission. Her personality is bright and straightforward, and she maintains good relationships with those around her. She is fundamentally fearless and acts with bravery, which serves her well in her duties. Her primary role is to protect the dragon, which serves as the guardian of the country, from tooth-cavity bacteria. Her story deepens when she discovers an unconscious enemy boy soldier named Bell on the dragon's tooth, a supernatural event that legend says foretells a major disaster. Through this encounter and the ensuing battles, she and Bell eventually learn to accept their fates. Despite her relative inexperience, Nonoko shows a strong sense of duty and becomes a mentor to her junior colleague, Bernard Octavius, demonstrating her capability and commitment to her craft.
