Laura is a mermaid from the undersea kingdom of Grand Ocean and one of the five main heroes of the anime Tropical-Rouge! Precure Petit Tobikome! Collabo▽Dance Party!. Her full name is Laura Apollodoros Hyginus La Mer. She is sent to the human world by the Mermaid Queen to find the legendary warriors known as the Pretty Cure, who can help restore the motivation power stolen from her kingdom by the Witch of Delays. Laura is initially self-confident, selfish, and outspoken, with a strong desire to become the next queen of Grand Ocean. She often acts narcissistic and looks down on humans, but her determination and ambition drive her to accomplish her mission. As she interacts with Manatsu Natsuumi and the other girls, she gradually learns the value of friendship, cooperation, and putting others before herself. This growth culminates when she gains her own transformation item, the Mermaid Aqua Pact, and becomes Cure La Mer, the ocean-themed Precure. Gaining human legs after her first transformation, she takes the alias Laura La Mer, moves in with Manatsu’s family, and transfers to Aozora Middle School. She forms close bonds with the other Precure members, especially Manatsu, and serves as the team’s bridge between the human and mermaid worlds. In addition to supporting the team with her knowledge of Grand Ocean, Laura wields water-based attacks and uses the Mermaid Aqua Pot to extract stolen motivation power from monsters. Her notable abilities as Cure La Mer include the Mix Tropical and Super Tropical Paradise attacks. Throughout the story, her journey from a self-serving mermaid to a selfless and reliable friend is a central element of her character. In the short film Petit Tobikome! Collabo▽Dance Party!, she participates in a collaborative dance event alongside the other Precure, showcasing her energetic and playful side.
