Rina Hidaka
Description
Rina Hidaka is a Japanese actress and voice actress born on June 15, 1994, in Chiba Prefecture, Japan. She began her entertainment career as a child actor at the age of five, appearing in television dramas and variety shows. Her voice acting debut came in 2008 when she voiced the character Minami Minate in the web anime Penguin Girl. The following year, at the age of 14, she landed her first leading role in an anime as Anne Shirley in the series Before Green Gables.
Hidaka's career gained significant momentum in the early 2010s. In 2011, she was cast as Airi Kashii in the anime Ro-Kyu-Bu!, a role that also led her to form the voice-acting unit "Ro-Kyu-Bu!" with fellow cast members Yoko Hikasa, Kana Hanazawa, and Yui Ogura. This period marked her transition into prominent roles, including performances in high-profile series such as Accel World, The World God Only Knows, and the long-running franchise A Certain Magical Index, where she voiced the character Last Order.
Throughout her career, Hidaka has been known for voicing a wide array of characters, often with energetic or youthful qualities. She has taken on leading and supporting roles in numerous popular series. Some of her most recognized performances include the gentle dragon-tamer Silica in the Sword Art Online franchise, the powerful dragon girl Filo in The Rising of the Shield Hero, and the destructive but endearing Dragon Lord Milim Nava in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. Other notable roles include the tsundere heiress Ririchiyo Shirakiin in Inu × Boku SS, the innocent Enju Aihara in Black Bullet, the online game-obsessed Ako Tamaki in And you thought there is never a girl online?, and the young shogi prodigy Ai Hinatsuru in The Ryuo's Work is Never Done!. She has also voiced characters in major magical girl franchises, such as Laura/Cure La Mer in Tropical-Rouge! Pretty Cure.
Hidaka has demonstrated versatility across genres, taking on roles in romantic comedies like Aharen-san Is Indecipherable as Eru Aharen and Kaguya-sama: Love is War as Kobachi Osaragi, as well as action-oriented series like The Eminence in Shadow as Claire Kagenou and Classroom of the Elite as Arisu Sakayanagi. Her work in recent years continues to be prolific, with roles in Shangri-La Frontier as the playful mascot Emul, Tomo-chan Is a Girl! as the deadpan Misuzu Gundo, and 'Tis Time for "Torture," Princess as the title character, Princess Mao Mao.
Throughout her career, Hidaka has been affiliated with different talent agencies. She was with AT Production until January 2013, after which she moved to Osawa Office. In April 2023, she transferred to her current agency, StarCrew. Hidaka attended university while continuing her voice acting work and graduated from Rissho University. On January 1, 2024, she announced her marriage to fellow voice actor Yuma Uchida.
