Description
Yūrei-chan is a young girl ghost who initially haunts the office building where Fushihara-san works. Driven by concern over Fushihara-san's excessive overtime and poor work-life balance, she persistently tries to persuade her to leave for her own good. Her tactics include speaking in a scary voice, flashing messages like "Leave" on computer monitors, offering help with tasks, and bringing snacks, all while pleading "Begone now!" to urge Fushihara-san's early departure. However, her overwhelming cuteness and sincere demeanor often undermine these efforts, inadvertently motivating Fushihara-san to work longer just to stay near her. This dynamic changes when Yūrei-chan begins accompanying Fushihara-san home, leading to them living together. She starts calling Fushihara-san "Shachiku-san" and forges a familial bond, displaying loneliness when apart. Despite being a ghost, she consumes food, dislikes green peppers, and mistakes office leftovers as "offerings," earning her a reputation as a "strange thief." Her origins remain largely undefined, lacking specific details about her birth, death, or initial reason for residing in the office. Flashbacks indicate she existed at least during the Meiji period, explaining her unfamiliarity with modern concepts like Christmas; she states she was born in the summer. Over time, her relationship with Fushihara-san evolves from a workplace specter into a cherished, comforting presence in Fushihara-san's personal life, providing emotional support and companionship beyond the office. This transition highlights her role as a source of positivity and healing within Fushihara-san's daily routine.
