Description
Alice Sakayanagi is a student at the Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing High School, where she serves as the de facto leader of Class A. She has a petite frame, short lilac hair, and violet eyes, standing just 150 centimeters tall. Due to a congenital heart condition, her physical capabilities are severely limited; she requires a cane to walk and is often excused from strenuous activities. She typically wears the standard school uniform, frequently accessorized with a black beret and thigh-high white stockings. Her outward demeanor is calm, composed, and soft-spoken, but this masks a deeply strategic and ruthless personality. She holds a profound disdain for boredom and a strong belief in the power of innate genius over environment or hard work, fueling an intellectual arrogance that leads her to manipulate people and situations like pieces on a chessboard. Despite her controlled nature, she is sensitive to comments about her small stature and can be vindictive, as when she orchestrated the expulsion of a male student who insulted her and caused her to fall. Her father serves as the school’s chairman, and as a child she visited the secret White Room facility, where she witnessed Kiyotaka Ayanokoji dominating other children in a game of chess. This moment shaped her worldview and her core motivation: to prove her own innate superiority by defeating Ayanokoji, whom she considers a masterpiece of the White Room and a false genius she alone is worthy of burying. As Class A’s leader, she initially shared power with Kohei Katsuragi but systematically undermined his authority to consolidate control. She commands loyal followers including Masumi Kamuro, who acts as her observer, and Masayoshi Hashimoto, who provides physical protection. Her key relationships are defined by rivalry and intellectual obsession, particularly with Ayanokoji, whom she has known of for over eight years, as well as a competitive dynamic with Ryuen Kakeru. Academically exceptional and highly proficient in chess, her official assessment scores show an A in Academic Ability (93) and a D- in Physical Ability (25). Despite her physical frailty, her intellectual dominance and manipulative skill make her one of the most powerful figures in the school.
