Description
Lilim is the personified form of the grimoire known as the Hermes Apocrypha, which was originally created by Hohenheim, the founder of Outer Alchemic magic. She becomes sentient after absorbing the magic and blood of Arata Kasuga, a Demon Lord candidate, while in the possession of Lilith Asami. Because of this absorption, she instinctively regards Arata and Lilith as her parents, calling them Papa and Mama. She appears as a young girl with long white hair and red eyes, and she is given the name Lilim by Arata, who chose it because of her resemblance to Lilith.
Lilim's personality is innocent, affectionate, and trusting. She quickly bonds with those around her, especially the members of the Trinity Seven, who are charmed by her presence. Despite her childlike demeanor, she possesses awareness of her nature and the significance of her existence. Her motivations are simple: she wants to be with her parents and to understand the world into which she was born. She brings a sense of warmth and domesticity to the group, but her appearance also triggers a major crisis. The moment she manifests, the forbidden Eternal Library awakens, releasing the White Demon Lord, Last Trinity, who was sealed within it.
In the story, Lilim serves as both a catalyst for the conflict and a central emotional anchor. Her arrival forces Arata to take on a protective, paternal role, deepening his character beyond his usual lighthearted demeanor. She also becomes a source of bonding for the Trinity Seven, who dote on her. Throughout the film, she accompanies the group during their struggle against Last Trinity. After the battle is resolved, Lilim bids her parents a tearful farewell and reverts to her grimoire form, promising to meet them again in the future.
Key relationships include her parental bond with Arata and Lilith, as well as close interactions with the other Trinity Seven—Arin, Levi, Mira, Akio, Yui, and Lieselotte—who all treat her with affection. Her development is subtle but meaningful: she transitions from a mysterious manifestation to a beloved individual who brings out the protective and caring sides of those around her. In terms of abilities, as a living grimoire, she embodies the power of the Hermes Apocrypha, which is tied to Outer Alchemic magic. She is capable of absorbing and wielding magical energy, and her very existence is linked to the awakening of the Eternal Library. Though she does not engage in direct combat, her presence is integral to the magical mechanics of the film's climax.
