Description
Bugdoll is a mysterious humanoid robot that appears as a central figure in the narrative of the #COMPASS2.0 ANIMATION PROJECT. It is introduced as an irregular entity, a being that was never originally part of the Compass system. Bugdoll is suggested to be a manifestation or the most notable form of the #IRREGULAR virus, a corruptive program that attacks the Compass system and its energy supply. Unlike standard combatants, Bugdoll positions itself as a third type of existence that is neither a player nor a hero, existing to challenge the established order.
Physically, Bugdoll bears a distinct resemblance to the system avatar Voidoll, but with a series of stark, adversarial modifications. Its body is constructed from a deep navy blue metal, with exposed internal joints glowing in a light blue hue that mirrors Voidoll's details. While Voidoll has soft, rounded forms, Bugdoll is defined by sharper, angular edges on its limbs and breastplate. Instead of twintail hair, its head is adorned with long, curved horns. It possesses three pairs of robotic wings that float concentrically behind its back in a ring formation, and it can detach these wings to use as weapons.
In terms of personality, Bugdoll is portrayed as overconfident and self-assured, believing itself to be a perfect creation. It speaks in a stilted, robotic manner using a specific katakana-based dialogue that mirrors the speech patterns of Voidoll, creating an uncanny parallel between the two. While it seems to acknowledge Voidoll's strength to some extent, the two are natural enemies and share a deep-seated detestation for one another. Notably, Bugdoll holds no regard for its creator, a stark contrast to Voidoll's devotion. Its gender is not specified; it refers to itself using a boyish Japanese pronoun, and at times, it acts as part of a larger hive mind alongside other aspects of the IRREGULAR virus.
The primary motivation of Bugdoll appears to be the destabilization of the Compass system, suspected to involve the monopolization or theft of the system's energy. It serves as a suspected mastermind behind the viral attacks that threaten the stability of this world. However, Bugdoll is not a straightforward destroyer; it has shown a willingness to deny direct responsibility for the virus, instead redirecting other characters toward Voidoll for answers. It has also attempted to form an alliance with the hero 13, who seeks the destruction of #COMPASS, though the hero remains largely unwilling to cooperate with it.
Within the story, Bugdoll acts as a primary catalyst for conflict. Its presence forces an investigation into the nature of the virus, with characters like 13 and Jeanne actively hunting it down as a lead. It represents a fundamental threat to the fragile peace maintained by the heroes, and its actions force the other characters to confront the flaws within their own system.
In combat, Bugdoll is designed as a disruptive force specializing in high-speed takedowns and area control. Its abilities are named after programming commands, reinforcing its nature as a digital anomaly. Its Hero Action, Floating Weapons or #IRREGULAR Wing, sends its winged drones to strike a single enemy, though this attack leaves Bugdoll with a significantly lowered defense until the wings return. Its Hero Skill, Delete Sequence Start, allows it to fire six long-range lasers in a parallel line, dealing high damage and ignoring all stage obstacles to hit enemies directly. Bugdoll also possesses a unique ability named #IRREGULAR, which automatically charges its Hero Skill when it is near another instance of itself or any other Irregular entity, allowing for rapid, sustained assaults.
