Description
Gettan, also known as the Great Wolf, is a character introduced in the second season of the anime. He is a high-ranking member of the Cult of Diablos, an organization that secretly manipulates world events from the shadows. His position within the Cult sees him commanding the Clovers, a group of formidable mercenaries, and he is tasked with leading the Major Corporate Alliance in its mission to destroy the Mitsugoshi Company.

In terms of personality, Gettan is defined by a harsh and pragmatic, if not cruel, worldview. He is driven by the philosophy that to avoid having things taken, one must take from others first. This belief manifests in his actions as he treats his subordinates with utter contempt and is willing to kill them without hesitation should they fail him. This ruthless exterior, however, belies a more tragic origin. In his youth, Gettan was a brave individual who only wanted to protect those he cared for. His downfall came from his immense pride, which became a curse. His inability to accept his own weakness led him to make reckless and violent decisions, ultimately destroying the very future he sought to protect.

Gettan's primary motivation is a lust for power, driven by past trauma and a desire to never be weak again. He is a member of the Cult seeking to obtain the prestigious 12th seat in the Knights of Rounds, the Cult's highest governing body. This ambition is the engine behind his aggressive takeover of the corporate alliance and his assault on Mitsugoshi. On a deeper level, his actions are fueled by a bitter envy of tremendous power he witnessed long ago, a phantom pain that continues to haunt him.

His role in the story is that of a primary antagonist during the financial arc of the second season. As the orchestrator of the plot to ruin Mitsugoshi, he is the final obstacle for the protagonist, Cid Kagenou, operating under the alias of the economic warrior John Smith. Gettan also serves as the dark mirror to Yukime, a key ally in the arc, as he is her former fiancé and the object of her long-held desire for revenge.

Gettan shares two critical relationships. The first is with Yukime, his former fiancée. Their bond, once born of love and a mutual desire to unite their tribes, was shattered when Gettan, in his quest for power, allied with the Cult. He murdered Yukime's mother and was directly responsible for the annihilation of both their villages, leaving Yukime for dead. This betrayal turned Yukime into a sworn enemy obsessed with revenge. In his final moments, however, Gettan shows remorse for how their relationship soured, entrusting her safety to his vanquisher. The second is with John Smith. Gettan has a fateful connection to Smith's true identity, not knowing that he is the same mysterious figure who blinded him years ago while rescuing Yukime. Their final confrontation is a rematch decades in the making, where Gettan is driven by the jealous belief that Smith is Yukime's new lover, only to be utterly outmatched once again.

The character's development is essentially a tragic fall from grace. He devolves from a proud warrior seeking to protect his people into a cynical monster who believes the only way to survive is to victimize others. His journey concludes with a moment of regret and a final, selfless act of entrusting the woman he loved to the man who defeated him, suggesting a faint flicker of his original self remains.

Gettan possesses notable abilities that make him a significant threat. He is a Beastkin of the wolf race with superior physical strength and magical power, considered stronger than the Second Children created by the Cult. Even after being blinded, which has left him with a horizontal scar across his face and empty eye sockets, he remains a powerful combatant capable of wielding a katana with lethal skill. His power is further augmented by the Cult's red pills, which allow him to enter a state known as Third Awakening, transforming him into a monstrous beast and enhancing his abilities to their limit.
