Description
Prince Fernand Brancott is a supporting character from the anime I Shall Survive Using Potions!. He is the first prince of the Kingdom of Brancott, a position that grants him status and authority but does little to refine his behavior. In terms of appearance, Fernand has short, light-colored hair, often depicted as gray, with orange eyes. He typically dresses in the refined, dapper attire befitting a noble, which includes a vest and cravat.
Fernand possesses a personality that is notably selfish and childish, often described as a coxcomb. While his royal upbringing might suggest a certain level of decorum, he frequently forgets his place, especially when interacting with the protagonist, Kaoru Nagase. His infatuation with Kaoru brings out his most unpleasant traits, as he becomes rude to others and ignores social boundaries in her presence. His persistence is so aggressive that he once attempted to kidnap her, an act that was stopped only when the patrons of her establishment, the Big Belly Bistro, stood up to him. Fernand appears to have confused genuine admiration for Kaoru's intelligence with romantic love. This confusion manifests as a relentless pursuit of marriage, despite Kaoru’s flat and repeated rejections. She has made it clear that she loathes the idea of becoming royalty, viewing it as a hollow and unfulfilling life, but Fernand stubbornly refuses to accept this. His behavior borders on harassment, and he remains undeterred even after Kaoru went so far as to cut her own face to demonstrate that she would rather bleed than marry him.
Fernand's primary motivation is his misguided quest to win Kaoru's hand. He is too stubborn to admit he is wasting his life on a wild goose chase, and it is noted that he will eventually be forced into an arranged marriage or replaced by another relative for the crown. In the story, his role is that of a recurring nuisance for Kaoru. He frequently visits her under the pretense of courtesy visits, hoping to convince her to return to the Kingdom of Brancott with him. His actions often serve as a source of conflict within Kaoru’s daily life, disrupting her business and personal peace. Fernand's key relationships include his childhood friends, Fabio and Allan, who accompany him on his visits. His dynamic with Kaoru is defined by his pursuit and her clever evasion tactics. Kaoru easily tricks him every time they meet, going so far as to claim she has a twin sister to escape his advances, and even when she insults him directly, he refuses to take it to heart.
Concerning his development and notable abilities, no information is available. He shows little to no growth in his attitude or behavior throughout the events of the story, remaining persistently fixated on Kaoru despite her constant refusals.
