Description
Jun Toda, a former member of the idol group 22/7 and its sub-unit Hareta Hi no Bench, hails from Toyama Prefecture and grew up in affluence. Her image color is brown, paired with an official green penlight color. She sports dark brown hair in a right-sided ponytail with messy bangs swept left, and her brown eyes carry subtle hints of purple and hot pink. Though not initially part of her design, she occasionally dons dark grey tights in performances, visible in music videos such as "Shampoo no Nioi ga Shita" and "Rikaisha." Masayoshi Tanaka crafted her character design.
Initially conceived as a high-class tsundere, her personality shifted to an overwhelmingly bright, hardworking, and straightforward demeanor, easily angered by perceived injustices. As the group’s youngest member, she radiates high energy and childlike traits, favoring fried foods, chocolate, candy, and bananas while rejecting bitter flavors. Gorillas and ghosts unsettle her. She excels at tossing strawberries into her mouth and enjoys hula-hooping, jump rope, and theater.
During childhood, Jun’s weak respiratory tract caused frequent coughing fits, extended stays in the nurse’s office, and repeated hospitalizations. At age ten, she shared a hospital room with a perpetually cheerful girl named Yu, who reframed the hospital as an "amusement park," starkly contrasting Jun’s gloom. This friendship reshaped Jun’s outlook. After Yu moved to a private room, Jun wrote a gratitude letter for making her stay joyful. While attempting to deliver it, she discovered Yu’s lifeless body and her grieving mother. Overwhelmed, Jun fled to the rooftop and begged to exchange her life for Yu’s. Days later, her asthma inexplicably vanished, which she interpreted as receiving Yu’s life. This cemented her commitment to live fully, adopting Yu’s motto: "Life is an amusement park. It’s a waste if you don’t enjoy it once you’re inside."
Her goal centered on becoming the world’s top idol. She demonstrates cooking skills in her character PV. Within the group, she interacted with other members, enduring frequent teasing from Ayaka Tachikawa as shown in their PVs. She officially graduated from 22/7 on December 26, 2021, retiring from the project.
In the anime series, Jun appears in all 12 episodes. Episode 7, "Happy✰Jet✰Coaster," spotlights her backstory with Yu and features her solo ending theme "Jinsei wa Waltz" (Life is a Waltz). It chronicles her childhood illness, transformative bond with Yu, the trauma of Yu’s death, and her resolve to embrace joy.
