Description
Magical Daisy, whose real name is Kiku Yakumo, is a central character in the Magical Girl Raising Project Restart arc. She is a young woman who balances her life as a university student with her duties as a veteran magical girl. As a middle school student, she took an exam administered by the magical girl known as Forest Musician Cranberry to earn her powers and began her career with great energy and dedication. Her efforts, alongside her mascot partner Palette, eventually caught the attention of the Magic Kingdom. An auditor named Keek produced an anime television series based on her heroic exploits, which made Magical Daisy a popular and widely recognized figure.

In her civilian life, Kiku lives in a small, run-down apartment and struggles financially. Her years of prioritizing magical girl activities over schoolwork have left her without the qualifications for a well-paying job or even a driver's license. She has drifted away from her old friends and finds it difficult to form new connections at her university. This present-day reality is a stark contrast to the glamorous image of the magical girl seen in her own anime. She begins to privately question her future, wondering how long she can continue her hero work and what will become of her.

Magical Daisy’s personality is marked by a combination of seasoned professionalism and underlying weariness. On the surface, she is a capable and pragmatic leader who takes her role seriously. She approaches dangerous situations with a tactical mindset and is resourceful in combat, even capable of holding her own in hand-to-hand fighting against a powerful opponent. When she meets other magical girls who are fans of her show, like Nokko-chan and Yumenoshima Genopsyko, she is visibly happy and feels a strong sense of responsibility to protect them. Despite her personal regrets and financial hardships, she continues to do her best as a magical girl, considering it a heroic calling.

Magical Daisy's signature magical ability allows her to fire a beam of energy that she has named the Daisy Beam. This beam is immensely powerful, capable of breaking down any matter it hits at a molecular level. She can control the attack's intensity and area of effect depending on where it is emitted; firing from her fingertips produces a narrow, precise beam, while firing from the center of her palm unleashes a much wider and more destructive blast. The beam is lethal, and its use against living beings is officially banned by the Magic Kingdom. A critical weakness of this ability is that the beam can be reflected back at her, which ultimately leads to her demise.

Within the story of Restart, Magical Daisy is forcibly recruited into a deadly magical girl project, a game that takes place within a digital world. She navigates the tutorial area efficiently, defeating basic skeleton enemies before being ambushed by another participant, the samurai-themed magical girl Akane. Daisy engages in a brief but intense fight, successfully disarming her opponent before Akane retreats. Afterwards, she rescues a younger magical girl named Nokko-chan and soon after meets two others, Genopsyko and @NyanNyan. Despite not considering herself the natural leader type, the others look up to her, and she forms a group that becomes known as Team Daisy. In this role, she guides her teammates, devises plans to progress through the game world, and fosters a positive and supportive group atmosphere.

Her key relationships are central to her character. Her bond with her former mascot, Palette, was exceptionally close, and she feels lonely after his return to the Magic Kingdom. In the game, her teammates Nokko-chan and Genopsyko are devoted fans of her anime, and their admiration provides her with a sense of joy and purpose. Her relationship with Keek, the magical girl who created her anime, is more complex. Keek is later revealed to be the orchestrator of the deadly game, and she had become disillusioned with the show, once forcing Daisy to perform mundane, non-heroic acts for a poorly received season finale.

The character's development culminates in a tragic end during the game. While hunting monsters with her team, Daisy encounters a Red Skeleton. Unaware that this specific enemy has the ability to reflect long-range magical attacks, she proudly fires her signature Daisy Beam to finish the fight. The beam is instantly reflected, blasting a large hole through her stomach. She loses consciousness in the game world and suffers a fatal heart attack in the real world, making her the first member of her team to die in the project. Her death is a devastating shock to her teammates, who mourn her and bury her body within the game world, forever changed by the loss of their vibrant and heroic leader.
