Description
Genopsyko Yumenoshima is a character from the anime Magical Girl Raising Project Restart. Her real name is Karin Sonoda, and she works professionally as a manga artist. As a person, she is a bright and outgoing otaku with a deep love for anime, games, and collecting merchandise related to her favorite series. Her primary passion is the Magical Daisy anime, which she has followed since its original broadcast, never missing an episode and actively participating in online discussions about it. She is also known for organizing offline meetups for fellow fans of magical girl media. While generally friendly and magnanimous, her personality has a hidden layer that can come across as somewhat arrogant or like she is looking down on others, a trait that tends to emerge when she feels completely secure.
In her magical girl form, Genopsyko wears a black and gray spandex-like superhero suit with a cat-themed helmet and tail. Her signature magical ability is her invincible suit. By lowering the visor of her helmet, she can activate its power to nullify any and all damage from any source. However, the suit itself is invincible, not Genopsyko personally, leaving her vulnerable to attacks that can bypass or ignore the suit's protection. She also carries a ray gun on her hip, though it is largely decorative and has no practical use in combat.
Within the story of Restart, Genopsyko is a member of Team Daisy. Her role in the group is largely defined by her easygoing and humorous nature, as she often makes jokes about her own safety, such as claiming she could withstand the Big Bang, which helps to ease tension among her teammates. She is a long-time fan of the team's leader, Magical Daisy, and is incredibly excited and energetic upon meeting her in person. She forms a particularly close friendship with another teammate, @Meow-Meow, with whom she bonds over their similarly peculiar and flashy magical girl names. Prior to the events of the series, she also maintained an online friendship with the magical girl La Pucelle, whom she knows only by an online handle.
Genopsyko's confidence in her invincible suit contributes to a breezy and fearless attitude, but this ultimately leads to her downfall. Her fate takes a grim turn after she is killed by another magical girl, Akane. In a tragic development, her body is later recovered and animated as a walking corpse to be used as a weapon against her former friends. She meets her final end at the hands of the entity Keek in the real world. Her death is deeply felt by her teammates, especially @Meow-Meow, who refuses to give up hope that Genopsyko might still be alive.
