Description
Alea Balta stands as a main heroine in the *Paradise War* storyline, a canon spinoff within the *Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki* universe. She represents the Balta Guild in a galactic proxy war waged on Banjo Island, a conflict designed to select the leader for a new pirate nation, unfolding several years after *Tenchi Muyo! GXP*.

Her appearance is marked by distinctive bi-colored hair: long wavy brown hair flows down her back, while pink hair is styled into separate fringes and poof balls on the sides. Alea holds the distinction of being both the youngest and shortest among the primary guild representatives, projecting a notably youthful look. On Banjo Island, she typically dons a light two-piece summer dress featuring the Balta Guild symbol.

Alea originates from one of numerous pirate groups adopting the "Balta" name to honor the original pirate leader and signify guild affiliation. These groups are almost certainly not directly descended from the founding Balta family, which includes figures like King Balta and Ryoko Balta. Her position places her approximately 23,200th in the guild’s line of succession.

She undertook the role of Balta Guild representative driven by a personal obligation: her sister, Loretta, accrued massive debts with her soon-to-be ex-husband, Alan, an incompetent former Galaxy Police officer and relentless schemer. After Alan abandoned Loretta—leaving her pregnant and solely responsible for the debt—Alea committed to the proxy war mission to help repay this burden. She shares her home with Loretta and her niece, Melissa.

While stationed on Banjo Island, Alea interacts with key figures including Minamida (the island’s caretaker, later revealed to be Seina Yamada using a pseudonym), Miron Pham (the island’s doctor and schoolteacher), and fellow representatives Dird Shank, Palty Jurai, Apuesta Daluma, and later Shou Kukoma. Space pirate guilds nominated young but gifted members like Alea as proxies to avoid deploying prominent figures.

Alea initially presents a sharp tongue, exemplified by immediately labeling Dird an "idiot" upon their first encounter. However, learning of Dird’s harsh upbringing softens Alea, leading her to adopt a protective, responsible role toward her. The other girls humorously regard Alea as the keeper of their "big stupid dog," referring to Dird. Alea excels as a marksman and demonstrates meticulous, proactive problem-solving skills, though she performs poorly in close combat. Her Guardian, a mechanized combat unit, typically wields a giant beam weapon firing near her head.

In one incident, Alan infiltrates Banjo Island scheming to swindle the pirate guilds. Alea assists in hiding him under the condition he departs swiftly, though his plans ultimately collapse. Her character arc blends pragmatic resilience with underlying compassion, fueled by familial loyalty and evolving relationships within the proxy war’s high-stakes environment.
