Description
Amber, also known as Amber Idanokan, is a central character from the anime and manga series Tales of Wedding Rings. She is introduced as the ring princess of Idanokan, the Land of Earth, and holds the Ring of Earth. Her background is highly unusual, as she is not a natural-born dwarf princess but an artificial being. Created as a type of homunculus or spiritual automaton, she was designed to serve as a vessel for the Ring of Earth. After the dwarf people of Idanokan were nearly wiped out by the Abyss King, Amber was hidden away in a shrine in Satou's home world, the real world, where she remained in a dormant state until she was needed. Her creation was a last-ditch effort to preserve the hope of her people, and she carries the life essence of the last dwarf princess, making her the key to the survival of the dwarf royal bloodline.

Amber's personality is a defining aspect of her character. She embodies the archetype of a robot girl, with a demeanor that is analytical, direct, and often laced with sharp, witty, and teasing remarks. Early on, she claims not to feel loneliness, a statement that is later revealed to be a bluff, as she gradually shows more emotional expression and development over the course of the story. Despite her artificial nature, she is known to leave her shrine occasionally to visit the local village, getting to know the farming families, which hints at a hidden depth to her character. Her pragmatic view is summed up in her belief that if she acts confidently, people will not question her presence, at most mistaking her for a spirit or a god. As the series progresses, her motivations evolve beyond her initial programmed mission; she comes to personally desire a child with Satou, adding a layer of genuine personal longing to her actions.

In the story, Amber's primary role is to aid the Ring King, Satou, in his fight against the Abyss King. She is introduced when Satou and his first wife, Krystal, are transported back to Earth. There, Amber awakens from her long slumber, presents the Ring of Earth to Satou, and persuades him to accept it, becoming his wife in the process. She then dedicates herself to protecting him and fulfilling her duty. Her key relationships are with Satou, whom she serves and eventually grows to have deeper feelings for, and with Krystal, whom she can easily unsettle with her antics. Her journey is one of development, as she transitions from a seemingly emotionless automaton following a preordained mission to an increasingly expressive and interesting individual with her own desires. In later volumes, she gets a chance to shine during the group's journey through the dwarven roads of Idanokan, where her unique abilities become crucial.

Amber is also notable for her considerable abilities, which stem from her artificial origin. She is a highly skilled and powerful combatant, relying on fast, fluid attacks rather than brute strength. Her body is equipped with a variety of unique functions, such as emitting a powerful light from her eyes like a flashlight. Her most formidable offensive capability is the ability to fire a high-energy heat ray from her chest, known as the Mega-Flash, which can melt earth and cause massive explosions. She also demonstrates the ability to hack into and take control of dwarven golems. Other powers displayed include the use of electricity and earth magic, such as summoning stone lances from the ground, though some of these abilities may be exclusive to the anime adaptation. She also possesses a secret weapon, an ultimate weapon inherited from the dwarf people, which she receives before the final battle. Physically, she has the appearance of an adult woman with green eyes and short green hair.
