TV Special
Description
Rajan Zahi first appears in the Prologue special of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, and he also appears in the main series that follows. He is a former soldier who, by the time of the Prologue, serves as an officer in the Dominicos Corps, a military unit under the Beneritt Group. He commands the unit as captain of the mother ship Ulysses, and in that role he oversees the deployment that sets the Prologue's events in motion. He is presented as a disciplined, capable officer who carries out his orders in a serious and professional manner.

In the main series, set years later, Rajan has moved from active field command into a more administrative position. He works as a close aide and trusted subordinate of Delling Rembran, one of the most powerful figures in the Beneritt Group, and he belongs to Cathedra, an auditing and oversight organization. He effectively serves as Delling's secretary and right hand, handling important missions and behind-the-scenes matters, and official materials describe him as Delling's capable subordinate and a former military man.

Personality-wise, Rajan is stern, composed, and dependable. He is known for his firm attitude and his deep trust in Delling, whose instructions he carries out faithfully. His military background gives him a pragmatic understanding of conflict, and he shows a clear awareness of the tragedies of war, a perspective shaped by his past service. He generally keeps his emotions in check and focuses on the practical execution of his duties.

His most significant relationship is with Delling Rembran, whom he serves loyally across both eras of the story. In the main series, he also moves within the orbit of the Rembran household and has small but notable interactions with Delling's daughter Miorine. His loyalty to Delling and his willingness to handle the less visible parts of his work make him a steady presence in the political and military structures surrounding the main plot.

In terms of abilities, Rajan is not portrayed as a mobile suit pilot but rather as a commander and organizer. His strengths lie in his leadership of the Dominicos Corps and the Ulysses during the Prologue, his experience as a soldier, and his ability to manage sensitive operations and oversight responsibilities in the main series. His development is shown through this transition from active military commander to political insider, remaining a constant figure at Delling's side as the story moves from the Prologue's conflict into the corporate and academic setting of the main narrative.
