Description
Nadim Samaya is a supporting character from Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury - Prologue. He is the Gundam Lfrith's development manager, a role to which he has been temporarily transferred from the mobile suit development company Ochs Earth to the Vanadis Institute. He is the husband of Elnora Samaya and the father of their young daughter, Ericht Samaya, forming the core of the Samaya family.

In terms of appearance and demeanor, Nadim is typically seen in his work uniform as a mobile suit developer. He has a gentle and caring nature that is evident in his interactions, presenting himself as an ordinary but devoted family man. His appearance reflects his personality as a nurturing father and supportive husband.

Nadim's primary motivation is the safety and well-being of his family. He deeply loves his wife and daughter, and this love drives his actions during the crisis depicted in the prologue. When he learns of an impending dangerous attack on the Vanadis Institute, he makes the quick decision to pilot a mobile suit himself to defend his loved ones, despite not being a frontline combat pilot by trade. His protective instincts override any personal caution.

His role in the story is brief but significant. As the attack unfolds, Nadim sorties in a mobile suit and manages to destroy an enemy unit. However, the situation quickly turns dire as his wife Elnora and daughter Ericht come under direct threat from a much more powerful enemy mobile suit, the Beguir-Beu. Rushing to their aid, he is caught in the assault and is killed, making his death a pivotal part of the tragedy that defines the prologue's narrative. His sacrifice underscores the personal cost of the conflict and sets the stage for the events that follow in the main series.

Nadim's key relationships are central to his character. With his wife Elnora, he shares a deep bond of partnership and mutual affection; they work alongside each other at the institute and are united in their care for their daughter. With his daughter Ericht, he is a warm and loving father, and his final actions are defined by his desperate attempt to protect her. His relationship with his colleagues at the Vanadis Institute, particularly Professor Cardo, is professional and collaborative, as he participates in the GUND project under her supervision.

Development-wise, Nadim does not undergo a long arc. His character is established quickly and consistently as a devoted family man and capable engineer who is forced into the role of a protector. The climax of his story is the realization of his sacrifice, cementing him as a tragic figure whose love for his family leads to his demise.

Regarding notable abilities, Nadim is a skilled mobile suit developer, having been the manager of the Gundam Lfrith's development. While he is not portrayed as an elite pilot, he demonstrates sufficient competence to sortie in a mobile suit and successfully engage an enemy unit in combat. His primary strength, however, lies not in combat prowess but in his unwavering determination to protect his family, which gives him the courage to face overwhelming odds.
