Description
Elnora Samaya is a central figure in the narrative, introduced as a researcher and test pilot for the Vanadis Institute, a organization dedicated to the development of advanced mobile suit technology. Her professional work focuses on the GUND Format, a neural-link system that allows a pilot to interface directly with a mobile suit, a technology that is both powerful and dangerous to the human body.

A defining aspect of Elnora's background is her personal connection to the technology she helps develop. She lost her right arm when she was younger and was saved by her mentor, Dr. Cardo Nabo, who provided her with a prosthetic replacement utilizing the very GUND technology they research. Consequently, Elnora harbors a deep sense of gratitude and loyalty towards her teacher and the technology that restored her physical capabilities.

On a personal level, Elnora is portrayed as a loving and devoted mother to her young daughter, Ericht Samaya. Her family life with her husband, Nadim Samaya, is shown to be warm and caring, as seen during the celebration of Ericht's fourth birthday. However, her professional dedication can sometimes create tension, as her daughter feels that the Gundam project, which the researchers affectionately call their child, receives more attention than she does. In her role as a test pilot, Elnora displays a driven and impatient nature, eager to push the limits of the GUND Format to achieve higher synchronization layers, requiring her mentor to caution her against risking her own safety for the sake of results.

Her role in the story is fundamentally shaped by a catastrophic event: a military assault on the Vanadis Institute, ordered by the Mobile Suit Development Council to eradicate all Gundam technology. During this attack, Elnora's life is shattered. She witnesses the death of her teacher, Cardo Nabo, and is forced to witness her husband's sacrifice as he stays behind to allow her and Ericht to escape. In a moment of desperation, her four-year-old daughter, Ericht, is able to activate the Gundam Lfrith and interface with it at an unprecedented level, using a connection port intended for Elnora's prosthetic arm. This event forces Elnora to witness her daughter participate in combat, a horrifying turn of events that she is powerless to stop.

The tragedy at the institute becomes the primary catalyst for Elnora's transformation. Following her escape, she is branded a witch and a fugitive, forcing her to flee to Mercury with her daughter. To survive, she assumes a new identity, adopting the name Prospera Mercury, while her daughter is renamed Suletta Mercury. Her motivations become consumed by a deep-seated hatred for the council and its president, Delling Rembran, who is responsible for the attack and the deaths of her loved ones. This desire for revenge leads her to orchestrate an elaborate plan, using her daughter and a new mobile suit, the Aerial, as instruments to infiltrate the Asticassia School of Technology and get close to Delling's daughter, Miorine Rembran. Her formerly nurturing nature becomes overshadowed by a willingness to use her own child as a pawn in her quest for vengeance.

As a pilot, Elnora is highly skilled and deeply knowledgeable about the GUND Format, having served as the test pilot for the Gundam Lfrith. Her notable ability lies not in her own piloting feats, but in her resilience and technical expertise, which she later uses to create the Gundam Aerial with the Shin Sei Development Corporation. Key relationships define her character arc: her loving bond with her daughter, Ericht; her mutual respect and loyalty to her mentor, Dr. Cardo Nabo; her partnership and sacrifice with her husband, Nadim; and her eventual transformation into a figure of vengeance, Prospera Mercury, whose relationships become defined by manipulation and a cold, calculating drive for revenge.
