Description
Felsi Rollo is a secondary character in the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury anime series. She is a second-year student in the piloting department at the Asticassia School of Technology and is a member of Jeturk House, one of the school's major factions.
Felsi is characterized by her impulsive and reckless personality, often acting without thinking ahead. She can appear arrogant and enjoys teasing those she sees as rivals or inferiors, particularly Miorine Rembran and Suletta Mercury, whom she mocks with nicknames like Mercury girl. This behavior reflects her background; she comes from a family with connections to the upper levels of the Benerit Group, which grants her a sense of privilege. Despite this bravado, Felsi is not genuinely malicious and is known to become flustered or frightened when a situation turns against her. Underneath her sometimes abrasive exterior, she demonstrates a strong and genuine loyalty to her friends and housemates, a trait that defines her character arc.
Her primary motivation is her deep admiration for Guel Jeturk, the head of her house and a top pilot. She respects him greatly and is fiercely supportive of him, often acting as a cheerleader or follower. This loyalty extends to Lauda Neill, Guel's younger brother, whom she also supports. Her closest relationship is with fellow Jeturk House student Petra Itta, with whom she is almost always seen. Together, they form a comedic duo, gossiping about romance and participating in mischief, such as attempting to rig Suletta's first duel by manipulating the school's sprinkler system.
As a student of the piloting course, Felsi pilots a MD-0031 Dilanza, a standard mobile suit for her house. While she is rarely seen displaying exceptional piloting skills in standard duels, she plays a crucial role during the series' more dangerous conflicts. Her most notable moment comes when she bravely sorties in her Dilanza during a sudden attack on the school, fighting to protect her classmates. Her key act of heroism occurs in the final battle, where she uses her mobile suit to fire a fire-extinguisher at Guel's Dilanza, preventing it from being detonated in an explosion and saving his life. This act highlights her development from a thoughtless troublemaker into someone who can take decisive and courageous action to protect those she cares about. In an epilogue set three years after the main events, Felsi is shown working at the Asticassia School of Technology, indicating her continued involvement with the place where she grew and forged her key friendships.
