Description
Martin Upmont is a third-year student in the management strategy department at Asticassia School of Technology and serves as the dorm leader of Earth House. He is a tall, slender young man with short brown hair and blue eyes, and he is of Earthian origin, which means he belongs to the demographic group born on Earth rather than in space colonies. This background shapes his awareness of the social disadvantages that Earthians face within the school’s space-born hierarchy.

As a leader, Martin is notably indecisive and prone to anxiety, especially when confronted with difficult situations or strong personalities among his housemates. He often appears overwhelmed by the responsibilities of managing Earth House, frequently worrying about budgets, schedules, and interpersonal conflicts. Under stress, he tends to lose focus and makes careless mistakes, such as miscalculating financial figures. Despite these shortcomings, he possesses a fundamentally kind heart and a strong sense of responsibility. He cares deeply about the well-being of his fellow Earth House members and tries to fulfil his duties, even when he feels ill-equipped to do so.

Martin’s motivations are largely driven by a desire to maintain stability and protect the interests of Earth House. He is initially reluctant to involve himself with Gundams or risky undertakings, and he voices strong objections when pressured to pilot a mobile suit in a team duel, as he has no piloting training. His cautious nature often leads him to act as a voice of reason within the group, though he can be easily swayed by more assertive characters.

His role in the story centres on his position as Earth House’s leader, which places him in the orbit of both Suletta Mercury and Miorine Rembran when they become affiliated with the dorm. He becomes a reluctant participant in the company Gundam Inc. that Miorine establishes, and during the training voyage to the Beneritt Group’s development plant, he serves as the acting captain of the ship. In that crisis, he shows a flicker of courage by going back to check for missing members, which leads him to witness Nika Nanaura secretly communicating with the terrorist group Fólld’s Dawn. This discovery puts him in grave danger and marks a turning point in his arc, as he must navigate the moral and practical consequences of that knowledge.

Key relationships within Earth House include his close bonds with Nika Nanaura and Chuachury Panlunch, who are among the more stable and supportive members. He often relies on their help to manage the dorm. His interactions with other strong-willed characters, such as Miorine and Suletta, highlight his tendency to defer to more decisive individuals.

Martin’s development throughout the series shows him gradually growing into his role, learning to handle pressure better, and taking on more responsibility, even if his nervousness never fully disappears. He does not possess notable combat abilities or piloting skills; his strengths lie in administrative management and his growing sense of loyalty to his friends. His character serves as a grounding, relatable presence within the ensemble, illustrating the challenges of leadership under uncertain circumstances.
