Description
Makie Tachibana is introduced as the sister of Tooru Tachibana, the manager of the restaurant Voyager. After her brother accidentally hits restaurant employee Yoshiki Takarada with his car, Makie takes it upon herself to make amends by working at Voyager without pay until Yoshiki is able to return to work. This act of responsibility illustrates her strong sense of duty and willingness to shoulder blame even when she is not directly at fault. She is an adult woman with long black hair and black eyes, and she is often seen wearing fashionable clothing. Makie has an outgoing and extroverted personality; she is confident, assertive, and quick to speak her mind, sometimes acting impulsively without fully thinking through the consequences. She has a sharp sense of humor and enjoys being in the spotlight. Despite her confident exterior, she struggles with her own insecurities, which become more apparent as the story progresses.
In the narrative, Makie becomes an important friend and supporter of the protagonist, Minare Koda. She is present at the bar where Minare drunkenly vents about her breakup, and she is immediately intrigued by Minare’s story. Makie encourages Minare to pursue a career in radio, suggests that she become a talk show host, and helps her record her first broadcast. Throughout the series, Makie provides emotional support and practical advice, helping Minare navigate the world of radio and gain confidence in her own abilities. Her own storyline develops later when she becomes involved in a complicated love triangle, forcing her to confront her true feelings and desires. This subplot adds depth to her character, showing that even the most outwardly confident people have vulnerable moments and personal challenges to overcome.
Makie’s notable abilities lie in her social skills: she is a natural communicator, good at reading people, and effective at diffusing tense situations with humor or directness. She has a knack for creative problem-solving and is not afraid to take risks, which makes her a valuable ally to Minare. While she initially appears as a supporting figure, her own growth over the course of the story makes her a well-rounded character with her own arc of self-discovery.
