TV-Series
Description
Ban Yozakura is the former patriarch of the Yozakura family and the husband of Keiko Yozakura. He is the father of Rei Yozakura and the maternal grandfather of the Yozakura siblings, including Mutsumi Yozakura and Shinzo Yozakura.
Physically, Ban is a muscular elderly man with mid-back length white hair that is slicked back on top and tied into a low ponytail. He has teal-green eyes and a short mustache and beard combo. His typical attire consists of a white shirt with the top unbuttoned, worn underneath a black jacket with black pants and shoes. In his youth, he had a different appearance, being clean-shaven with black hair tied in a low ponytail, fair tan skin, and a more muscular build, typically wearing a black tank top and dark green pants.
Ban's personality is characterized as very energetic, playful, and chaotic. He often prioritizes having fun and enjoying himself over taking things seriously, a trait that stems from his arrogance and supreme confidence in his own skills, particularly his ability to escape from any situation. He is notorious for being a blabbermouth who frequently gives away secret information, especially to impress women, which has earned him the reputation of a walking information leak. This behavior is so problematic that his family often sends him on missions specifically to keep him away from situations where he might divulge sensitive intelligence. Despite his flirtatious nature with other women, Ban is deeply infatuated with his wife, Keiko. He often tells stories about her as if she were deceased, though she is very much alive. When Keiko is present, he becomes lovestruck and wishes to spend all his time with her, and his devotion makes him easily obedient to her commands.
This outgoing and playful demeanor, however, belies a much darker past. Before meeting Keiko, Ban was a silent, aggressive loner who never opened up to anyone and lived only for himself. His life was devoid of family or close friends, a situation that mirrors the early life of his grandson-in-law, Taiyo Asano. It was only after meeting Keiko that his worldview began to change, allowing him to escape his reckless and solitary way of living and become more open and caring.
Ban is a legendary figure in the underworld, known as the infiltrator. His unparalleled ability allows him to break into or escape from any place, no matter how well-protected. His skills are so advanced that he can easily pass through Kyoichiro Yozakura's Steel Spider traps, a feat that few can accomplish. Much of his work involves gathering information from the criminal underworld, and he is often stationed within a prison to carry out this mission. His combat style involves the use of a pistol, and one of his techniques, Da Capo, involves firing a bullet with enough force to penetrate a wall.
Ban possesses a flexible skeletal frame that allows him to bend and contort his body in unnatural ways, which aids in his infiltration and escape tactics. He has also achieved Blooming, a powerful ability. His specific Blooming ability is called Passage, which increases the fluidity of his bones and cells, enabling him to pass through solid objects. In the story, Ban plays a significant role as a mentor. Recognizing Taiyo Asano's lack of skill, Ban takes him on for extremely rigorous special training, during which he uses his own Blooming to resonate with Taiyo and help him awaken his own abilities.
