Description
GreyThroat is a young Liberi woman and a Sniper operator for Rhodes Island, first appearing in the game Arknights before playing a supporting role in the anime adaptation Arknights: Perish in Frost. She stands at 162 centimeters tall and has grey hair and green eyes. Her most defining characteristic is her complex and often difficult relationship with the Infected, the victims of the incurable disease Oripathy. This stems from her deeply traumatic childhood. Her parents were researchers who worked to help the Infected, but her father was killed, and her mother, after leaving the young GreyThroat in the care of Rhodes Island, subsequently vanished. This loss instilled in her a powerful resentment and disgust toward Oripathy and those infected with it, a feeling she did not initially try to hide, leading to conflicts with other operators. During her early days at Rhodes Island, she exhibited signs of post-traumatic stress and even engaged in self-harming behavior after accidental contact with Originium-based devices.

Personality-wise, GreyThroat is abrasive, blunt, and solitary, often coming across as cold or hostile. She struggles to express her inner emotions and tends to push others away, leading a relatively isolated life within the mobile city. She is also deeply fearful of becoming infected herself, a fact revealed by the intense relief and subsequent guilt she feels after each medical check-up confirms she remains uninfected. Despite her prejudices, she is not without a conscience. A long and harrowing rescue mission, the details of which she rarely discusses, caused a dramatic shift in her behavior. After this event, she began to make a conscious, if awkward, effort to interact with the Infected. Her approach remains frank and often barbed, but it masks a growing understanding. She has witnessed the suffering of exiled Infected and their acts of heroism, which has led her to question the simple hatred she once held. Her stated goal is not to become like the empathetic Amiya, but to find a personal balance between her own identity as a non-infected person and the Infected she lives and works alongside.

GreyThroat's key relationships are primarily defined by this internal struggle. The most significant is with Amiya, the young leader of Rhodes Island. Amiya was one of the few people GreyThroat was willing to communicate with in her darkest times, and it was at Amiya's suggestion that she began training to become an operator. Amiya personally placed GreyThroat on her own team to help mitigate conflicts and prove her capabilities. In the anime Perish in Frost, GreyThroat has a notable encounter with Faust, a commander from the enemy Reunion movement. The two marksmen find themselves at a standoff, during which Faust warns her not to let her duty corrupt her. Following his death in the struggle for Lungmen, GreyThroat recovers Faust's broken crossbow as a memento of their brief, fateful meeting. This encounter leaves a significant mark on her. Conversely, her early antagonistic behavior created a rift with other operators, most notably Blaze, an Elite Operator who despises any disregard for the suffering of the Infected and holds GreyThroat's initial prejudice in contempt.

Throughout her development, GreyThroat transitions from a figure of barely concealed hatred to a more complex individual wrestling with fear and guilt. While she still often suffers from nightmares and maintains a guarded distance, she has proven herself a reliable fighter who will save the lives of Infected comrades, even if she does so with a visible, trembling reluctance. Her character arc in the story is one of gradual, painful, and incomplete change, moving from blind prejudice toward a grudging acknowledgment of the shared humanity and right to survival of the Infected, as articulated by Amiya.

As an operator, GreyThroat is a marksman sniper specializing in dealing damage. Her combat abilities focus on rapid, multi-hit attacks to overwhelm her targets. She fights using a bow or crossbow, and on the battlefield, she demonstrates keen situational awareness and excellent dynamic vision that compensates for her relatively lesser experience. Her skills include techniques like Flying Feathers, which allows her to fire two stronger shots in quick succession, and Counterflow, a burst of three shots that can quickly eliminate low-defense enemies. Her talent, known as Tailwind, increases her attack speed and grants her a chance to land critical hits for increased damage.
